McCoy 35/40 Parts lists
Does anyone have a parts list for the McCoy Redhead engine line? I have 'inherited' a stash of McCoy parts including a lot of gasket kits/etc. I need to figure out what belongs with what.
TIA.
Regards,
Bill Lee

On the left side of this page there is a section for "Instruction sheets", in that section there is a copy of the instruction sheet for a Mccoy Stunt 35, if you happen to have the item #25 crank throw spacer and are looking to sell, I'd be interested!

No problem GG, could have posted the original scan, but I'm a little lazy today, yours is a much cleaner copy

Testor McCoy Series 21 Black Head Parts
Bill, the PDF is 3.0 MB, I forget where I downloaded it from, otherwise I'd steer you to a link. It is a bit hard to include here, but if you PM me your E-mail address, I can E-mail it to you.
Am including this later edition of Testor engines. Some of the parts are interchangeable. One can even swap the prop drive between the .35 Red Head and .35/.40 Series 21 Black Head. It may look a little odd, but they fit both ways (been there done that )
The Series 21 R/C version:
Please note, some have been retrofitting the Red Head series with parts from the Series 21. There are a few changes required to make this work. Some require the later Red Head with "lightning bolt" crankcase. In one case, it may be with the .40, is the easiest in the conversion. I forget which is what. Except in one case, which I think one just simply retains the lightning bolt steel fin cylinder and replaces the piston, rest require re-machining the crankcase to make the Series 21 sleeve set with dyke ring piston fit. You can't simply reuse the earlier non lightning bolt steel fin cylinders, because they don't have the dyke tines to keep the piston ring inside the cylinder when traversing the exhaust port. It will bind and break the ring, plus damage the engine. Also, you may have to modify the con rod (again I forget what). Best contact someone in Stunt Hangar, who knows somebody who did this.
(Yesterday, getting fuel in Sayre OK near the TX border, I went into the store to get my credit card receipt. The very pleasant white haired senior woman working the cash register asked me what gas pump number. I told her, "It is the one with the white minivan parked next to it." Then I told her, "The older I get, the less I remember." She all of sudden got a glee full look in her eyes with a big wide smile and slight chuckle, greeted me with a parting, "Happy New Years". I'm starting to feel like Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown in the movie, Back to the Future.)

Wow! 38 pages! Possible to share the entire document?
Thanks to all for the responses. Is there a sheet for the 40? Lightning Bolt and similar.
Thanks.
Bill

I just assembled a Lightning Bolt 40 for a fellow over on SH. I had the spacer in the box along with all the necessary other parts. It is now in the back of the crank.
Looking half-way closely at it, it looks like a simple piece of plastic, maybe nylon, maybe teflon. I made similar pads for the wrist pins on some of my old K&B 40 stuff, so making a suitable copy should be relatively easy. (Or maybe I'm fooling myself! :-) )
Regards,
Bill

Yes, I've made them from nylon screws, sanding them to shape, just thought an original one would be nice to have, couldn't hurt to ask!

Re: McCoy 35/40 Parts lists
Bill, answered your question in my reply above for the PDF file. A belated welcome, to this forum. Didn't know that you know quite a bit about these engines.
I really like the Testor Red Head engines. Have now 7 or 8, even a .35 Blue Head R/C (earlier without lightning bolt crankcase). They are smoother running than the Fox .35 Stunt. Even found the now nearly unobtanium Evolution .40/.46 remote needle valve assembly fits the .35 Red Head perfectly, plus being fine thread, makes adjusting the engine a joy.
