The Breezy Hill Flyers' "Black Fly-Day"
From Our Facebook Page:
---------------------------------------------------------
"Black Flyday Fun-Fly"...The Video
The Breezy Hill Flyers once again held their day-after-Thanksgiving fun fly, with 5 pilots and 7 flying machines buzzing around in the cold breeze.
Stephanie was putting in first flights with her Phantom III drone, capturing some of the flying, and figuring out some of its quirks...like when it gets too cold and says so!
Leo had his Air Tractor and a Tower Hobbies E-powered sailplane that was previously owned by our late bud, Darryl Wilson.
Billy had his faithful Cub and another Cub-like high-winger, and Thomas showed up with his Kingfisher foamie.
I had my Mavic drone and Darryl's Butterfly motorglider, but stupidly left the long-winged bird unattended on its starting bench...where it rolled off and broke its wing.
Dummy Breaks---Dummy Fixes...I'll have it spliced and patched here in a bit. Still managed a few photos with the drone though.
So, a good time, mostly, and thanks to Thomas for driving all the way up from Sikeston to visit with us!

It was defiantly Breezy at the Hill Got some fun flights in though regardless Probably did the broken wing model a favor after breaking with the fix you put on it ,, Better than breaking in the air !! Thanks Kim

Thanks Eric!
Yeah, as is often the case, we had a pretty good blast across the top of Breezy Hill, but everybody was frisky and wanting to play in the wind. We just bundled against the cold and went for it.
The Butterfly's broken wing may have been a good thing, in that both wings (and those of its little brother, the "Piece of Cake" motorglider) will get some ply spar caps epoxied at their wing joints. I had pulled a lot of loops with this ole dog...while also making it pack along the added weight of a couple GoPros...and figure I'm lucky not to have folded a wing.
Billy's Butterfly actually DID fold a wing a couple years ago, but it was at the center joint. It had gotten fuel-soaked over many years of flying, and the spar box/tube for the joiner rod just came apart. Luckily, both wings stayed attached (just folded) to the fuse, helping slow it a bit, 'till it yard-darted in some fairly soft dirt. The plane was built by his dad, so he did some deep repair work to bring it back to flying status.
And, the fun just rolls on! [/b]
