Re: .049 Airtruk clone/look-a-like on final
Done:
Went against popular opinion and chose red. A last second decision. Cockpit - maybe but only if I can do it right which is a slim chance at best.
Somewhere in there are the beginnings of the Piper Cub version.
I sure do feel lonesome doing these builds......................all by myself. Nobody has got nothing going? Even I get sick of reading my own stuff!!!
A gathering, all scratch built although the Bipe trainer is altered from a kit provided by a member (Roger Harris) here.

Re: .049 Airtruk clone/look-a-like on final
Duane,
Is that from the late 70s early 80s Popular Mechanics pair of 1/2A jets? I seem to remember one was F-16-ish, and the other F-14 or F-18. I doubt is it the big plan front and center under the plane.
Whatever it is, it is really going to be sharp knowing how you finish your models!

I love the precision of the internal structure Robert. Nothing like building in balsa. Spans the whole sprectum, Duane's F-15 rocket, your Pageboy floater, and my really out there and totally impracticable put-togethers.

Re: .049 Airtruk clone/look-a-like on final
A nice history lesson, Levent. I didn't know much about Ray Stits and his contributions to the aircraft homebuilders and EAA. Passed away 7 years ago, R.I.P. Ray.
Of note was his contributions in providing a reasonable flame retardant finish, so aircraft could be safely garaged at people's homes. The Stits Sky Baby color scheme would be well suited to the Manx Cat line of tandem wing C/L aircraft.
Since the Sky Baby is a stagger wing with lower wing forward, I suppose one could reverse the way the wings are mounted with a modified Manx fuselage.

Re: .049 Airtruk clone/look-a-like on final
Well, if that isn't a cutie pie.......and far-out. Guess the fat bellied Silver Lining isn't so weird after all. But, I'm not building it.
Years ago I bought a box of ten 1/2 A bell-cranks, used the last one months ago and have been using scratched up examples ever since.
So I went to ebay and just ordered three more. Price has gone way up......$6.49 each and no discount for multiples. Should have ordered ten.
Found an aluminum bushing in my tubing cut-off supply for the made-up example which works, but with a #8 machine screw it's kind of clunky, so I may wait for the Perfects for the scrap yard Piper. It will be hung under wing not in the body.

Re: .049 Airtruk clone/look-a-like on final
A bit late now Bob, the Perfect Model Parts company is still a business and they still make those bellcranks. I was going under a bridge in Baltimore recently and there on the wall in a black and white faded state was the Perfect Parts logo. I came home and checked and sure enough the business was still in the same place as when it started. John Brodak purchased some of the items such as the tank line. I see online that the #233 bellcrank is $2.78. Sullivan is essentially the joint owner of the company. Many wheels are still offered as well. I have never purchased anything from them as I receive most of my items through other vendors or my flying buddies.

Thanks Ken, I'm always late to the party.
The ebay seller advertized them as "New old stock" and I saw no others. Glad that I did not order ten. I should have checked Tower, my usual supplier first or at least done due dilligence.
