Looking good Bob, You’re getting to be a hand at scratch building!…. Something very satisfying in being creative like that…. I think I saw in the other thread Levent was maybe making decals …. Depending on how that works out I would be happy to make paint stencils as well…Just let me know
Here’s what’s what I’ve done lately….”Pixie “ by Dave Robelen…https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=8992
I want to do a Pageboy by Ken Willard for .020 so this is the test mule to see how far out I can see something small like that…So far so good..
My version uses a KFm-2 airfoil and I wanted to thank Andrew for the tips on it from the Guppy thread…Seems to be pretty efficient and can punch thru a light breeze nicely…Nice glide too…

Re: .049 Airtruk clone/look-a-like on final
Hi Bob, try to brush a clear coat along masking tape, this prevents seeping paint under masking tape. Sure that you know that trick, however I wanted to inform. Red seepings can easily retouched with a brush with Tamiya or Testors enamels or acrylics.
Thanks for framed color scheme, I am honored

I agree with Levent’s suggestion of sealing the edges…..You might have to run a sharp blade along the edge to help the release if it started pulling paint…. You can also use an old plastic credit card to burnish the tape down to help with the edges…. Definitely black, Will compliment the engine

Two for black, obviously I can't make up my mind.
Nothing cemented yet. I have to make the wheels and add the tail skid and fix the paint bleeds. I did not notch the wing for the needle, kept it flush with the firewall. Engine as depicted in Levents drawing. Bought it March 6, 1982.

Thanks David.
Wheels:
That cavity begged to be filled for posterity. Postage stamp on a balsa/tooth pick pedestal. Thought about coins (too heavy), a stealth pilot, etc.
I like Levents angular triangle/trapazoid canopy. I have styrene plastic but I can't come up with a friendly design. Something maybe like four pieces coming to a point above the pilots head and glued with Testors red tube all on a matte black balsa base. It might wind up being all balsa.

Good job on the hand crafted wheels, Bob.
It is kind of a throwback to the kits of the 1960's into the 1970's. All kits came with wheels, most of the time they were hardwood dyed black, but in some instances as with the Comet rubber powered kits they were left in the natural wood. The half-A C/L kits, Midwest, Scientific, Sterling, they all came with wood wheels. I'd replace them with Perfect cast hub rubber tire wheels, which looked and rolled so much better.
Only Top Flite came with rubber wheels with eyelet bearings and wound wire wheel retainers, but T/F kits seemed to be a touch better than the others. They had an interesting half-A series of kits that was molded balsa, full fuselage series. They weren't much on stunting as they had such narrow elevators but once built, sort of resembled the RTF's of the day with high undercamber sheet wings when built.
Mid 1960's, I built their Mitsubishi Zero-sen when I was 12 or 13, made it Pee Wee powered. (Pee Wee's were sold in the military base hobby shops for about half the cost of their marked retail. Then, the services on base sold stuff cost plus, basically wholesale.) After using sanding sealer and lightly sanding, brushed on Pactra green dope on the upper side, gray on the lower side. Then I felt good about finishing smooth without grain.

Re: .049 Airtruk clone/look-a-like on final
This Carl Goldberg Cub kit came with eyelet rubber wheels. A smashed ebay buy I rebuilt a couple of years ago and added the wheel fairings and struts. One of my favorites that I keep on top of the display case in my den.
I just cleaned it up a bit and clear coated it. The wheels were crumbling, but CA saved them.
BlackHawk kits are pretty complete.
Working with canopy ideas. I did not take geometry or trig and am paying for it now. I can't get the angles right. Still trying.
It could get by without one. Think Spirit of St. Louis.
The .049 could actually fly. Lot's of SIG airfoil wing area.

Re: .049 Airtruk clone/look-a-like on final
Bob, I believe that is the earlier Sterling Beginner Series Piper Cub, (motor mount seems 1 piece nylon typical Sterling) which was later replaced by their Piper Super Cruiser (I don't know if this was simply a name change or they actually made a few outline changes.) Those wheels look exactly like the ones on my T/F Zero. I think I still have those wheels in one of my tackle boxes for model airplane stuff, would have to retrieve it and look.
Now come to think of it, my Goldberg Swordsman 18 has the same wheels as your Piper.
It is possible that for certain years, they used those rubber tires on multiple manufacturers, their kits. Those are cost making decisions, and if rubber tires were aplenty and readily available, they'd win out over the wood. But, I don't recall Goldberg ever having a profile Cub in their lineup.
Also, us kids would switch wheels between kits. My Little Toot has Perfect wheels with rubber tires and cast hubs. I think what I did was, the Little Toot was purchased new back in the 1990's from AHC. The Swordsman 18 was a hobby shop sale item, it was an open box missing things like decals and hardware. I used the wheels from the Little Toot on the Swordsman, and a set of Perfect wheels I had from my parts stash for the Little Toot.
We can be kids even as adults.

Re: .049 Airtruk clone/look-a-like on final
Thanks Levent, what a nice job! I copied it. You may have saved me from something like this.
I'm eager to start #3. Going to wait on the .010 version and build another .020 using the Pee Wee Cub cowling. It should intergrate nicely into the fuselage. Perhaps a 11" wing vice the 12" of the .049 and the 10" of the S/L. The .010 wing will be 8".
Thinking your airtruk paint scheme only in yellow.

Blue letterings for yellow version? Any other letterings or insignia like as USA flag?

Bob, perhaps a John Deere color scheme is good for .010 version. Here are diecast models:

Re: .049 Airtruk clone/look-a-like on final
Amazing work there Bob. I really like the looks of it. And now it is quite funny. I had to do a double take when I saw your last picture. I thought, hey, a stapled on wing is different. Only then I realized that it was just there for weight.....
And number 2. I thought the white and green version you posted above looked awesome, and really liked that color scheme. There too, I realized that it was just green tape.
