Am I losing my mind?

Am I losing my mind?
I was watching the 1969 release of "The Thousand Plane Raid" when I did a double take. There appeared to be an ashtray attached to the control column of the B-17. If any of you know what it is, I'm all ears. The video starts about 51:30 and the "ash tray" shows up around 51:58.

Boy that went quick, just a flash. You have good eyes Andrew.
My favorite aviation war movie is 12 O'clock High with Gregory Peck and for WW1 - The Blue Max.
