With the "recent unpleasantness" caused a "troll" now past how great it is that we are back to friendly "give and take" exchanges of information and suggestions.

Let's keep keep it going that way.

To be honest, He was on the guillotene a few days ago and I asked for him to be given a second chance inside the chat room. My reason being, everyone should be given a 3rd strike or 2nd chance. Not a friend by any means to me and I didn't know the guy personally. I wanted to see if he knew how to eat crow a little bit and be a true and honest member. That wasn't to be the case at all it seems.

i didn't think it was a big deal. every forum gets a troll once a year or so. every forum.

He was given serveral warnings but he continued to insult at lot of people including the Admin.

Isn't keeping things within the forum General Rules the function of moderators? Seems to me he became even more arrogant with each warning.

he probably did not mean it, he was probably just using this forum that is supposed to help the every day modeler with a cox engine, he was just abusing it by using it as a perfect advertising opportunity

i to belive that everyone deserves a second and third chance, but engine .049 used those up awefully quike

It was a 6-day flurry of discord and the first time I have experienced such on this forum.

He did email me last week and I told him that, judging by the various posts and the number of emails I received about him, he had ruffled a lot of feathers and that it might be to his advantage to back off a bit.

I have no problem with controversy and critique as long as the gist of it is constructive and meant to initiate discussion. Discussion leads to innovation and many things we have changed over the years because of input / critique.

Personally, I don't think this a happy ending as the interactions were fraught with negativity and that is not a good thing to carry in one’s heart.

I have always been one to support competitors (I give them a 40% discount on our products) and, secretly, would have preferred for him to remove all the put-downs towards others from his eBay listings, be kind in his posts and become a valuable member of this forum.

This would have served the interests of the hobby far more. After all, we are all somehow connected in this hobby and putting out good feelings for everyone is an inexpensive, yet so rewarding return on investment.

On a parting note, I would be interested to hear, down the road, if anyone actually received the free merchandise he offered.

I thought he was evening out, unless he was being overly sarcastic. (which I hope of course, he wasn't)

I agree, he could have been a valued member. (Not questioning the Admninistrator's judgment in any way) I have come across a few ruffians on other forums who seemed like real jerks. But after a while they straightened out, and turned out to be nice people. Even off the computer screen. Unfourtunatley, this is not always the case.

Like Mud said, a forum can only be perfect for so long. Everyone will not always be perfect, and share the same general opinion.

Here is my story behind it. He did break several rules even after being warned. I have also received many complaints about him. I really did want to give him a chance, he was big into Cox stuff but after talking to him several times, he continued. He was constantly advertising and posting posts that didn't exactly add to the topic. The Ban doesn't have to last forever, it can easily be changed into a "suspended". He was banned in favor of several complaints and the added up offenses.
