Cox Engine of The Month
Thimble-Drome Super Sabre F-100

Thimble-Drome Super Sabre F-100
I hadn't seen much posted anywhere on one of these, so felt obligated to share here. Collected this from a deceased estate (always sad...) in nice (used) condition - no box or other parts, however the (worm-eaten) instructions were in another box. Looks to have been run and the wife of the previous owner was confident it was flown back in the '70s; there's no damage although the plastics are starting to yellow. Cleaned up nicely, the engine freed up after a good soak and it now flips over very nicely. I reckon it's a goer but I think I'll put it up on display on a shelf in the study rather than just fly it for the sake of it...

What Eric said, and I agree with you, why fly and risk it. There are lots of others in not so nice condition to fly. The F-100, a favorite of mine. I see that Cox kept the flying tail.
I have a Walt Musciano Hollow log F-100 that I rebuilt from a crashed model and I debate whether or not to fly it. Canopy needs help, someday I will get around to fixing it.

Looks as though you have some glow engines under the models. Can you post a few more photos of them?

Hi Bill, I PM'd you some pictures. Mostly Enyas and Cox but some others mixed in. Not the best pictures, my "good" camera is out of service.

I've got one as well. It is white like yours but more beat up. The plastic is very brittle and the firewall is kind of disintegrating. The bell crank was broken so I replaced with the Carl Goldberg unit. The engine is rebuilt and ready to go. After I get my Pitts project off the ground I will repair and reinforce the best I can and give it a shot.
