Wrong Stuka fuel tank ?
Hello dear member,
This is the continuation of my topic here ;

A stuka fuel tank a friend give me, don't fit on my Stuka.
The problem;
The tank is too round for the fuselage, you see the day on the picture, see 1
I don't know on which Stuka it could go
The pin no 2 is directly on the tank 3, while the pin should be under the tank.
I really tried everything and finally after a search with Google, I saw.
The fuel tank can't fit on the left side
My fuel tank ;
Another one I found with Google ; is it the good one ?

Re: Wrong Stuka fuel tank ?
You may have stumbled on to a problem I have never seen before. Your tank must be from something else but resembles the Stuka tank.. I have never seen a Stuka tank like that before. I'm thinking the tank in the picture is the one you want, judging from my experience. I have worked on black ones, and two green ones , but had tanks for them all, and didn't really notice any different in them.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Thank you Dan.
So you think, with your experience, that my tank would not be for a Stuka?
Happy new year to you

That would be my guess, that it may be from some other model. I may be wrong, and hopefully some one else will confirm. It's that round protrusion that comes out of the bottom of the tank that I wonder about. I wonder if they hold the same amount of fuel? I really need to see it in person in order to compare it but that is not practical.
Happy New Year!!

Re: Wrong Stuka fuel tank ?
The green model in your picture is actually a P-40. That may be the difference. In your pictures of your tank, it is actually upside down then. That round part is the overflow/vent and you fill it through the smaller nipple. I'll have to check some of the P-40's I have. there were several different versions of the P-40 and your tank may be for one of them. I'll check and get back to you here later.

Re: Wrong Stuka fuel tank ?
The later model Stuka had upright engine with different tank and backplate. Other changes were made like bolt on gear.
I think the Stuka was the only model with a fuel window molded in.

You are right, the green one is a P-40. My fuel tank look very close to this P-40 fuel tank with what it look a fuel level window
