How bad is the economy?

How bad is the economy?
This one makes me wonder......
Run o the mill .010 later version. 21 bids and 1 day left.
Sometimes they go for less than $60! Sometimes this happens.

A buck-forty-five pretty much does it in my case...

Ebay
Sometimes ebay is stuning!! Weekend puchases are the worst. Buying group package and knowing what is available sure helps. I bought a small flight box on ebay for under $40.00 loaded with misc. parts. Plugs old/new/props/ nuts/bolts and two decent reed engines. On bottom of box was a plactic bag that had a Space Hopper and Fox .049. The space Hopper was dirty but cleaned up nice and the Fox needed backplate. I had a new Fox Tank and all was good.

rureelybob always gets more than average prices for his items. The only thing I can see different with him is that his feedback is very high and he rarely sells anything crappy looking. I think he unloads his crappy stuff on another account.

He is just very professional with his listings and has returning customers as we know he sells good stuff!
He is one of my saved sellers.

The people that I know, including myself, have both money and brains. If they didn't have brains they wouldn't have money.
Financial self-restraint is essential to keeping any money that a person does have. For one thing I never charge on a credit card what I can't afford to pay for in cash. I use the credit card only as a convenience and not to "float" my lifestyle.
And this didn't happen by accident. What's not to understand?

economy
Some of us have deep feeling about certain items. If you can afford it and want it.. buy it. Some may think over paid but who cares??
To judge someone by what he paid isn't quite right. Do you know the buyer?? Yes there are guys who don't care and pay for what they want, good for them. Somebody is allways going to have bigger and better who cares?

Re: How bad is the economy?
I am about ten years older than Dan and we reflected the finacial wisdom that we have gained from our years.
When it comes to Cox engines I move cautiously and only after careful research before i buy and very many of those purchases have been private party transactions. The e-bay "bidding frenzy" does not at all interest me although I understand that some actually enjoy it.
At the momement, just using the Coxes that I do have keeps me plenty entertained.

Re: How bad is the economy?
Just because he has a great feedback score does not change the fact that his engines are run of the mill and should not command anything extra in value. A fool and his money etc. I guess it might drive up the prices for that engine, or maybe get a few

Sometimes, if you want an item that complete and perfect, it's worth it just to pay the money. Not piece it together by getting the perfect engine, then (hopefully) the perfect box, etc.

Good news!
The economy has made a complete rebound! 1hr to go and it's at $177.
Not bad, I have seen early NIB jewel cases go for half that.

Dan I agree, it's their money and they may spend it as they see fit.
Consider this though! If this sells for $200 people will see that and the bar is set higher for the next one. Also other sellers will see the $200 sale and guess what? The buy it now price just doubled.
We as the buyers can control the market. If we refuse to pay triple the book value the seller is forced to set a fair realistic price. If engines keep going up in price they will become collectables only for those with the means to afford it and it will sit on the shelf, collect dust and eventually become landfill. If engines are not used then no spare parts will be produced as that market will dissapear. We are starting to experience that already.
Maybe a slight stretch but, something to consider.
