Is this car a good buy? (I won it!!)
so recently a jerobee mclaren came up on ebay, i looked at it and it looks like its in good condition and comes with a few extra parts. right now the price is low and i don't have much money to spend, so this seems like a good buy, but are all the necessary parts here? if i were to win it, it would get modern electronics and cleaned up, so im not too worried about things like electronics and things for the engine

Re: Is this car a good buy? (I won it!!)
I am not really good on pricing these things as I am too new with it, but I am in cahoots with an avid collector of these things and was told the bodies alone are worth the starting bid. So you decide.
I’ll also add the parts are not easy to find and not really cheap when you do. Even off line they are not cheap. I have spent almost $180 for parts to complete mine.
The good thing is that McClaren is complete and could run with little effort, plus you have spares. Something to think about. It’s always better to pay up on the front end as the back end is more expensive.
I won’t be bidding, but I am watching.

Re: Is this car a good buy? (I won it!!)
Just having the Lexan body in good shape is a plus.
Sold my car about 5 yrs ago and the body didn't hold up too well when it hits a wall or fence, too many times.
It was in good shape, except the body and sold for $70.00 in 2014.
Nice to have an extra body!

Re: Is this car a good buy? (I won it!!)
The Comando is the beginners version and was also the first type Jerobee made. This car doesn't have the sponge tyres and the back wheels are narrower. It seems that the pull start cable is missing or broken. Also, if you want to keep the model original, you will need to replace the Silver Bee tank. This tank is a bit longer than the standard Babe Bee tank. Otherwise, you can fix a silicon tube through the hole and install a small Sullivan tank as on the Corvette or Alfa models. The body is not made from lexan but is ABS and is less prone to crack but also a bit heavier. The front bumper needs to be replaceed to protect the body.
If the price remains as what it is now you can do a great affair.
I paid never more that 50 EUR incl shipping for mine but that's because the French suffer from the same desease as Americans do: the " not invented here syndrome". Stuff from another country or from overseas has obviously less value than what is made in our own country!
Good luck!

Well the body never holds up when you smack it into a wall or fence ----- ABS plastic or not. (dam kids -- my dad would say)
All I remember is trying to use Testors glue (for plastic models) to fix the body.

If you do get it let me and Overlord know. Not many of us out there have these things and it’s good to have a small network.

Re: Is this car a good buy? (I won it!!)
I saw that, hoping it was you, but guess not.
Just lay low and set a price in your head of what you will be willing to pay. Last 15-20sec of the auction dump that number into a bid. There won’t be enough time for any snipe bidders to figure out your number or bidding software. If you are really good and have a good connection you can go 5-10 sec before auction end.
I usually get antsy and hit it at 15 sec because I fret over internet speed.

Check it out!
That’s just one body, the other is in much nicer shape, but does not have the extra plastic pieces. The car as a whole is in relatively good condition, aside from a major issue being the “nose” of the car had been broken previously and fixed and is still weak. Most of the parts are in good condition though. Fixing and testing coming soon!
