I was working on my Li'l Jumpin' Bean tonight and apparently unseated the spraybar on the Medallion .049. I didn't realize it until I turned the needle and rotated the whole assembly. Can anyone tell me where to position the spray hole in the venturi? It has a hex shaped seat, so I have 6 choices. I think I know which 3 not to use. So Should it be pointed directly into the engine, or 60 degrees off to one side or the other?
Thanks,
Rusty

sure. if you want to pressurize the thing, you want to postion it so the holes are exactly parallel with the air flow, so pointing straight down the horn. if not, you should offset it 1 step up or down in the hexagonal receiver nut, so that the air passes over the side of the spray bar and the venturi effect can draw fuel into the mixture. if you offset at a 90 degrees angle to the airflow, it wont run properly as the air is probably slowed down too much. i tried it once, but it didn't work very well, i had to position the tank at a higher position so i had the problem of the carb flooding itself.

Thanks Beez. No pressure feed on this one, just a balloon tank under the belly, using vacuum to draw the fuel. I'll point it down and off center

What Position for the spraybar hole on a Medallion .049? Empty mine

My old throttled medallions have the other style spraybars, but they are set to be at 90degrees with the intake at full throttle and rotates more toward parallel with the intake at idle which actually impedes the vacuum draw effect due to the shape of the spraybar itself impeding airflow.
However, the teedee intakes also run at a 90 to the intake air passage so don`t be suprised if you guess it wrong and have to adjust to optimize performance.

the TDs venturi is almost a whole different system. you've got four injector holes wich are connected to the fuel vent by
a canal machined into the outer wall of the carb out of which the fuel can be drawn very easily.
the medallion has a simple tube in which the fuel waits to be drawn into the mix, so (just what I think)
the carb needs the outlet holes to be at a slight inline angle with the direction of air flow, to get the necessary
suction effect. i dunno, but my Med runs best with that setting, at 90 degrees (when i even get it to start seems
to be always running very lean and cuts off after just a few seconds.

I don't have a throttle. On my .049 the spraybar is fixed in the venturi. It's a lot like a Killer Bee venturi and spraybar.
