YEOW, you’re right! Had to scroll back two days to find that HD won the auction for the engine! Lots of fun stuff gets brought up and discussed while we’re waiting!

Talk beyond is chit-chat but engine related. Could be worse, see Facebook Group: Balsa Model Aircraft Builders Association.
You OK, Fred?

Who cares as long as it is about Cox engines, or engines.

Forum members: Even I have engines other than Cox, Atwood-WenMac .049 outboard engine from the 1950’s, Atwood aircraft engines from my dad, Enya .19 watercooled marine engine from Japan 1967-1968, and others because some of you Cox Engine Forum members could not get the seller to ship to your country and I purchased and shipped to you, and continued to keep engines you were looking for in the “”later box” when you start asking again for something in particular.
We are a forum and get off subject sometimes, but usually center around Cox Engines.

robot_797 come in robot_797 where are you
robot_797: well, robot the package finally came, and this is all that is left.
scroll down slowly please. you might burn your eyes.
slowly I said.
a boat engine heatsink,
a boat flywheel,
a boat universal coupling for .049 engine,
and
a
.049 - .051 muffler, minus the adjustment spring,
and a thick, haven't measured it yet, shim
and a
spacer for the Venturi to keep it
above the
red
carburetor, oh it is cracked, subtract $7.00,
and
a
TD
.051 engine,
with #5 cylinder, stuck so far,
with a hi-compression head, and
what more do you want for $xx.xx see photo now.
All this?? and the cooling attachment?? WOW.

Update to show #5 piston and cylinder
This is an update to the grand reveal of the water-cooled Cox .051 engine with flywheel and universal coupling. In the 1st picture all the components are shown, but the piston is still stuck inside the #5 cylinder.
See before and after.
All parts in water-cooled Cox .051 engine, note piston still stuck inside cylinder
NOTE: #5 on cylinder exhaust corner. here^
NOTE: interior of cylinder. see exhaust bypass and boost ports on outside edges, same on both sides.
Cox .051 piston, NOTE groove near bottom of piston.

Re: need a bidder
I've always wondered if Cox had enough tapered piston/cylinders to use them till the end of their production of .051 engines? All .051 piston/cylinders I've seen, seem to still have the taper.

Not so much on this one.

Bill: not here. I added data to “Cox Tee Dee crankshaft and crankcase data”, on crankshaft, crankcase, and piston top, mid and bottom of piston, but couldn’t measure the cylinder inside. I have calipers, but not good for inside cylinders except at top and bottom. I think I added that data too.
#5 cylinder top I.D was .4090 and bottom ID .4095 within tolerance of my caliper. Maybe tapered .0005inch, I suspect tolerance. Cox did work to close tolerance from what Bernie says.
See “cox Tee Dee crankshaft and crankcase data”, last entered today, but probably seen under 2015 when searching, it was on page 2 today.
There were lots of questions about the #2 on the engine mounts back in 2015.

Re: need a bidder
HappyDad,
I have the same lack of proper tools to measure cylinder/piston tapers and doubt that my vision is sharp enough to do that properly anyway.
Perhaps it was only the bores that were tapered on those early Tee Dee engines but I'm not even sure of that?
Back to the eye doctor Friday for another Lazer cleanup of my left eye, as it was 20/60 when I started this series a few months ago.

Bill: I purchased a digital microscope for working on tiny items. It has variable magnification, from 2X or so up to supposedly 500X and a 4inches LCD screen. It is sort of like the old microscope, but with an LCD screen instead of a monocular eyepiece. It was about $20.00 from a favorite vendor of mine, but took a while to get here. Info available upon PM. It even has a built-in light and battery powered, rechargeable, about 5hours worth.
I see our vision is about the same, but yours is better.
i need heavy duty contact lenses to drive, but I still can see.
