Ah, rafter hangers Kim. Love it. Good to see the Little Traveler again.
The Little Tom Tom isn't so little. I like the hard angles.

Thanks Bob!
The rafters were getting full in the shed AND the shop, so I've gotten another portable building to let stuff expand!
The angles ARE a lot sharper than those of the Scout...and I almost tried to build up another one back in the day, but had to be REAL strategic with the lawn mower / paper route funds!
Even so...there were no more second hand paints used!!!!!

So, Zipper got its first flight in the front yard. After a failed first attempt, which had it running off its foam board runway, we regrouped and put in a fine first flight.
As is my custom, the elevator was a bit touchy, and needs to be tuned down (done), and the nose gear needed a bit of outward bend to keep the lines tight...though how much "grip" its wooden wheels have on its runway is questionable. So, I'm gonna scrounge through the prop box and see if I can find a reverse pitch 6x3 to help quell the massive torque coming from the Babe Bee.
Otherwise, we're good. Unfortunately, I seem to have a shortage of energy here lately, and didn't feel like attempting another flight in this heat.
Everything is on standby, and I hope to get much better video of its next flights...this one was pretty shaky.

Congratulations on nice first flight Kim….Looked very smooth for a sensitive elevator….Looks like its sleek design really lets it move out on Bee power!!

Re: Scientific "Zipper" Build...Zipper Flys!.
Thank You Guys!!!!!!
Yeah, didn't care for the landing, so I may hoof it over to the ramp at the Cairo airport for its next set of flights.
My ideal nostalgia choice would be to fly it at the ball field in my hometown where my first Zipper flew back in the 60's, but the ball diamond was converted to a soccer field years ago, so the infield is gone.
Either way, gonna try to have a lot more video coverage of its next outing.

Nice flight report, Kim. Just curious, but perhaps reason for a tad down elevator required is due to engine at 0 incidence and wing's modified Clark-Y with upper surface foiled for more lift?
For C/L, I've preferred the neutral boyancy of the symmetrical airfoils and solid balsa "flat plate" airfoils.
Again, nice flight, brings back good memories.

Hey Thanks George!
Yes, for sure, flat plate and symmetrical airfoils always perform better. The flat-bottomed airfoil on Zipper adds a bunch of lift that has to be countered, but I'd figure that some negative engine incidence would have it chasing pitch when the engine quit. So...I just went for a mid-to-low-power Babe Bee, and it's all a Nostalgia Build anyway.
Facebook Friend, Paul Smith, posted this on my page, his has the bellcrank moved to the top of the wing, and looks to have a Tee Dee .020 for power:
"I have one of those. Built from a kit that was bungled and abandoned. Mine has been "ready-to-fly" for 12 years now."
