Q about Jason's radial

Q about Jason's radial
Hi,
I just clicked the picture of Januarys winner, and what a nice engine!
Looking at the drawing thats below the picture, just got me wondering how it fills its cylinders?
As i see it it will never create a vacuum "inhale" the air/fuel mix?? (the pressure in the crankcase will stay the same)
So how does it work?
Regards
Thomas Pedersen

Good question Thomas.
I was wondering the same thing.

Aren't these actually 3 separate engines in one case, like this one:

?

Dirk:
The three-cylinder shown is three separate engines cooridinated by a gear system. Jason's doesn't have a gear system.

Re: Q about Jason's radial
Vacuum would be created during the upstroke of each cylinder so assuming there is a crankshaft and moveable pistons there will be vacuum.
Automobile engines draw air into the cylinders during the intake stroke, so I think Cox engines work the opposite and draw air and fuel during the compression stroke. I could be backwards either way there will be a vacuum.

As previously discussed it would need a blower to run.

Sorry, did not read the post about the blower, but yes that was the only way i could think of that would make it work. I have benn doing some experiments with my own V-Bee.

There would be no pressure changes in the CC as the 3 piston will compensate for each other (1 goes up but the 2 others goes down and would equalize out the vacuum created by no.1)

Yes I have seen yours on YouTube.
Do you sell them?
I had the intention of making a short run of maybe 5-10 crankcases, but time is the limiting factor!
2 little girls (it seems like they have been sick all this winter), serious plastic modelling, R/C warbirds, 2 old Triumph MC's and rebuilding our house has taken alot of my sparetime!
But after joining this group in December i have been thinking of it again.
Regards
Thomas

It is a very nice engine, if you do decide to sell let me know!
