Another example of CEF camaraderie
I added some posts to the "COX Screw Table" thread a few days ago , complaining the 5-40x1 socket-head screws that would serve as excellent replacements for the normal 049 COX propeller screws with aluminum spinners are un-obtanium in my metric part of the world.
Doug aka crankbndr was kind enough and mailed me instantly some 26 pcs of the screws from his stock, that I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude for!!!
The socket-head screw not only offers a more lasting head with its 6-sided internal wrench pit, but thanks to its un-threaded neck, also positions the aluminum spinner nicely for an ultimate prop and spinner balance.
Here are the screws the postman just delivered, with one already added to my home assembled TeeDee051...
Thank you Doug, and once in your neighborhood (beware that I often travel in Florida!!!) I will somehow return this kind favor of yours!
Andras the metric screw member from Hungary.

It was easy using a letter size envelope, no customs and arrived fast! They are kinda Chinesum but work ok.

Re: Another example of CEF camaraderie
I think Chinesium may be a good thing in this application. The metal is softer and provides a better grip in the threads of the crankshaft. The black oxide bolts with the unthreaded shoulder are the ones I use on most of my planes, but even here in Inch World it was hard to find them without mail ordering. It's also good that they reach deeply into the crank. For some dumb reason, the OEM screws were so short they could cause the crank to bust off right behind the splines. CrankBusters, Lol
Thanks, Crank, for helping out our metric neighbor.

It is a great gesture, that people help each other, you never know when you may need something from someone. Everything comes back Mr. crankbndr Congratulations on your gesture!
András, you are a faithful representative of Cox in those lands and a great person, you deserve it!

I don't see an issue with you dropping the odd letter here and there. I mean, just look at the precedents. Aluminium, colour, the list goes on.

I live in a small, run down, lower middle class house in Homestead. My health lately has slowed my maintenance, I'm behind in everything but your are welcome to say high any time.
I went to Key Largo today to get my auto tags, it is 100 times easier than my county. Long lines up here and English is a second language.I worked in the Keys for 10 years and there is a thing called the Keys Disease, nobody gets in a hurry, is friendly and easy going. Its a beautiful thing. So while Im there I get some fresh fish and stone crabs and leaving a large bolt from someones boat trailer found my right front tire. POW, OCRAP but with my tags, fish and crabs it was still good.

Bad luck with that large bolt, Doug, but heads up, I love Florida and the Keys and we try to drive there whenever in the US, a couple of pics from the easy going life - sorta Keys Disease - and lush vegetation we particularly loved with my wife a few years ago in Miami and Key West (Hemingway's house with the 6-finger paw cats)!!

Exactly Eric...the Corona bottles float on a cocktail and this blend throws you right into the corner of the dive once you finish it.

Another example of CEF comradery
Mark Riley - aka batjack - noted in one of my previous posts on CEF that except for .15 size, I have all COX engines in my fleet, and he decided on an examplary gesture of donating me a .15 R/C Medallion. This was all back in February i.e. pre-Covid-19 times, and he shipped me the package including the excellent, well preserved engine, with various accessories and a kind letter with his personal notes.
The package finally made it today, finishing its adventurous trek between Oregon and Hungary, with Mark and I both almost having lost our faith that among the Covid 19 turmoil conditions of international shipping the engine would ever reach its destination.
This is an exceptionally well preserved engine with as-new compression, a real unique and rare item that will now go into my priceless (to me) COX engine collection, not just as a shelf-queen, but as a beast of burden, reporting to service soon.
Thank you Mark, I cannot be grateful enough for your generosity and comradery, and as promised, I will keep you and the CEF friends posted on the next use of this Medallion 15 R/C...I will modify the engine mount on my SIG Wonder and swap the TeeDee09 R/C engine curently in service there, with the Medallion. I am looking forward to the results of this upgrade.

Good on you CB for helping Andras out. McMaster Carr a valuable source for bulk fasteners. But I found another that will sell in slightly lesser quantities - Albany County Fasteners in New Jersey.
I have a good friend that lives in Homestead, flew F104's and 105's in Vietnam. Sleeps with an Uzi on his nightstand.

That is wonderful news, how much joy to receive that valuable engine.
What a beautiful gesture on the part of batjack .... how good you can do it !!
Congratulations András, we will surely have news soon ...
I ... I would start enjoying it in a test bench, I couldn't wait to install it !, haha ...

Re: Another example of CEF camaraderie
Thanks Mauricio. Testing a .15 size engine requires an infrastructure different than what I currently have laying around. .fixtures, mount, prop and tank..but I will certainly do the benchtest a.s.a. I can. Stay tuned!

I could not wait any longer but bench tested her. She twists the 7x6 APC at 12.4k and idles around 5k (without fine tuning the throttle piston position). This is about the same output as reported by Mr Chinn in the test posted on sceptreflight.
I tried to shoot a video but my smartphone fails to record if the background noise is excessive...which definitely is even during idle run.
More about placing her in the SIG Wonder soon.

Nice engine, and a nice airframe you will be putting it into. SHould go pretty good with that engine. One day when I get my 'wings' again, I would like to build a Wonder too. Got the plans, but gotta learn to fly 'bigger than foamy planes' first.
