Cox Engine of The Month
Cox Sportavia Motor Glider
Cox Sportavia Motor Glider
Good morning! I am selling this for a friend of mine and he is asking $100 plus actual packing and shipping. To begin, I do not know much about the history of the model as I have never used, flown or run the engine. With that said, based upon my experience with r/c models, I can say that I have inspected it and find it to be in very good condition, albeit a bit dirty but it can certainly be cleaned up nicely. The radio compartment is intact although there is no radio gear provided. The engine is clean, free and appears to be in good, serviceable condition. I believe it will be a good, strong runner. Because the wing is in one piece, 69", the package may need to be shipped via Greyhound to keep the shipping charges reasonable. However, I can cut the wing on the centerline and the buyer can re-epoxy the wing using a piece of 1/8" music wire as the joiner/reinforcement. This option would allow the model to be shipped via USPS, insured. The model will be packed by one of our local commercial packers and when ready, I will contact the buyer with the final invoice containing the price for the plane, packing and shipping. As soon as the funds are received, I will release the package for delivery. I hope this is acceptable
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you for your consideration.

Hello James
Is it possible for you to check how much IT will cost to ship it to Norway?
Best regards

Re: Cox Sportavia Motor Glider
Greetings Ramin! Yes it is possible but this will, according to the post office clerk, require cutting the wing at the centerline, and having it packed for an accurate estimate. The one piece wing exceeds the length, width and depth measurements. As a ballpark guess, it was implied that it may be in the neighborhood of $100 insured. If this is acceptable, I will set things in motion for you. Thanks for your consideration.R4min wrote:Hello James

Re: Cox Sportavia Motor Glider
Good day James, the shipping sounds a bit expensive, but that is the first model plane i had for around 36 years ago and it flys very steadly and nice so i guess i have to have it, i have another sportavia wich i have mounted a cox 0.9 on it and is a bitt heavier because i have used fiberglass to repair a nose damege so It wont fly with a 0.49, it would be greate to fly one with the original engine, let me know how much the total will be and how to arrange the payments, my shipping anddress is:
[Address Deleted]
Its okay to cut the wing in The center, Pls try to cut it nice, thank you.

Re: Cox Sportavia Motor Glider
Greetings! I truly hope you will be pleased. I will have the Sportavia packed and prepared for shipping as I stated and when ready, I will take the package to the post office where I will get the actual price. At that point, I will notify you of the total price I will need to receive before I can release the package for shipping. I can accept Paypal payment, or I can process a credit card number if either is acceptable with you. Thank you for your consideration.

I'm enjoying watching this thread evolve.
Ultimately, a video of it flying in Norway, would be icing on the cake.
Thanks!

Re: Cox Sportavia Motor Glider
Greetings R4min! Well, your Sportavia ihas been packed by our local commercial packer ($35.00) and will be taken to the post office for the actual postal charges. I will send the total to you and will release the package as soon as the reimbursement is received. I hope this is acceptable. I took a whole series of photos of the disassembled model before I took it to the packer should there be any complaints or issues with the shipping. Thank you for your patience.

Re: Cox Sportavia Motor Glider
Good afternoon R4min! Well, it's done! I hope I haven't done the wrong thing and gotten ahead of myself but I believed you were sincere about wanting the Sportavia, so I went ahead and advanced and paid the money so the package could be released shipped out to you today. As offered, the price for the Sportavia is $100. The total for the commercial packing was $35 and the postage was $61.25 including $200 insurance for a total of $96.25 thus the total reimbursement due is $196.25, please. Please, you can pay via PayPal to: modelbuilder49@hotmail.com
I will provide you with a copy of the packing receipt and the customs paperwork as soon as I can get my scanner back on-line and for this I ask your patience (stuff always breaks when you need them the most ). Nevertheless, the tracking document number is CH084210709US. Thank you for your patience.

Re: Cox Sportavia Motor Glider
Good morning! Well, I was very fortunate and was able to rectify my scanner/laptop connect issue and have scanned the copy of the customs, postage and packing receipts for your records. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the site to host the pdf file. If you would like I will send it to you in a personal email and bypass this site altogether. I do wish you and yours the very best going forward. Merry Christmas!!

Hello Ramin! Believe me, it does my heart good to hear that it has arrived safely. Thanks for letting me know that it was acceptable, (I was a bit worried as to how to resolve any issue, should you be dissatisfied). I look forward to your flight experience! Again, thank you for your patience and consideration.
