Tanks from the 010, 020 lot I just got. Another order to Mecoa (can I say that here) for tanks and carb bodies.

Sorry Jason,
That really stinks. On the bright side at least they are still available new.

Not really.
That occurred most likely because they were cherished and kept nib.

And yet another reason to use them as intended. Much like automobiles they degrade when not used.

That's the very reason that we "exercise" the cars at the car museum with which I am associated. Our oldest cars are from the late 19th century.
Sadly for me, my lousy vision prevents me from driving them safely. Just hearing a Duesenberg "fire off" is thrill! (We have a '30 Murphy-bodied Duesie on display currently.)
I help keep the cars looking nice for museum visitors.

TD .010/.020
I have seen many new ones with fuel line rotted off and were never fired. to bad they were not made like Holland Hornets all metal. They are TD's great looking. At least most mounts are available. I remove fuel lines on my new TD .020's.

Nice and clean
Look at the carb body. Don't sneeze or it may turn to dust. I wonder why the firewall mount is on the engine????

Either someone doesn't know how it's supposed to be displayed or....... Another sheister. It's been run.
Either way it will go for big bucks.... Shame.

I wonder what it is that causes plastic to degrade?
Just a thought, most of my NIB's come from Europe
Where for example we haven't had air conditioning
Until very recently in homes and shops.
Perhaps something like that plays a part?
However, I'd say it was probably more likely that there
Is a ubiquitous cleaner or solvent over in the States
That these polymers don't like.

A lot of times.. The sun/light plastic and oil's biggest enemy. Cool dry places plastic lasts a long time they all look like they were in light for years and one looks like a cigarette was put out on it. Really kind of sad...

Yup, direct hot sunlight is one of the worst I have read,,,cooks all the molded in oils,,out of the plastic. Then you put it to use and it doesn't last long. Kinda like vehicle tires,,if left to set in direct sunlight, it will also dry out the oils in the rubber and then you get sidewall checking and cracks over time. Here in the Pac Northwest those are called maypop tires,,,,they may pop and they may not. Believe it or not, tires need to be exercised as well.
I keep all of my ran and new engines in one huge opaque snap lid tray,,along with a few of the dessicant bags that you get in certain products

I maintain that the Crown Royal bags maitain some of the residual elememts of the Crown Royal. When the engines sniff that there is narry a problem with them.
