Cox RR1 stripped down

Cox RR1 stripped down
I got another RR1, 1/3 cheaper than previous one.
Of course cheaper means: spinner is trash, very bad screw driver marks on tank, someone mark his / her name on crankcase.
Head and cylinder from somewhere (no #1 on it), wrong cylinder, piston + high compression head.
So, I stripped down all anodising, try to straightened the ribs on tank, polished it. Make it ready for re-anodize. I am waiting my RIT dyes to arrive.

It actually looks good in silver. However, I will be waiting for your dye job to see how it is done and looks. I never thought of RIT dye on metal, or is there a special metal version?

My location do not have battery acid, I search all auto shop, they only sell battery water (distilled water), battery acid become things of the past here as most of the car battery now a day are maintenance free.
I am following DIY anodising site that successfully anodize using NaHSO4 and wanted to try it out. Of course I will be testing this on scrap aluminium before touching RR1.

Re: Cox RR1 stripped down
The dye is used as ”the color” in colour anodizing process, I think.
I am also thinking about re-anodizing my recently acquired RR-1, following this with interest. I do have some battery acid, bought at an auto parts store. Some older style and low sales volume motorcycle batteries are delivered dry and need to be filled with acid.
I will most likely send mine out though.

Re: Cox RR1 stripped down
i haven't anodized in a long time, but i noticed severl years ago a newer process of using less acid and higher voltage and now this system, looks good!
