For another $34.50 you could buy them all fully built from Bernie or Matt. Plus shipping though.
They're only 100 miles from me. Isle of Palms, South Carolina is a nice place for a weekend trip.

Yes and no.
If someone bought that many of the same our pricing would be in the same range. Also, our shipping cost to international destinations is only $5.95 and not $29.95.
It's not a bad deal but pretty well equal to what we or Matt would offer for such a bulk purchase.
Re: Wow free shipping
And yours would be fully assembled Surestarts with backplates and all, ready to run.

Anywhere from 11k to 15k on a 6x3 prop depending on piston/cylinder fit.

Re: Wow free shipping
Same as any Bee. With a 5x3 prop they'll turn faster than that. They don't have SPI but they'll haul any 1/2A around admirably, and you can throttle them very well.

Re: Wow free shipping
Hey, don’t laugh. Even if he bought them from Estes-Cox when they had them on sale back in March 2005 for $4.99, Cox still charged him $1.00 shipping for EACH engine. They apologized, SORRY, no combined shipping!jsesere wrote:What a great deal with free shipping.

Al
PS. Cox actually advertised ‘Glow Heads’ for $4.99 and stated that incidentally it came installed on a complete SureStart engine. Wonder how many thousands they sold at that price?

I bought 9 new Sure Starts each with a snap starter and cam in the bag for $7.00 each from a guy several years ago. I figure I can use them for parts if nothing else.

He's also got a sale for 'or best offer'.
I recon someone could get them for a lot less than the 175.

Engines
for $175.00 I would buy some good complete engines. Not a bunch of ho-hum parts engines.

Re: Wow free shipping
According to Cox (and our tests have substantiated this) the DC crankcases perform equally well or better than the extruded ones. They actually run a bit cooler due to the thermal qualities of the crankcase.
Where we have found shortcomings is when they are used extensively in race applications with small props, high nitro and high RPM. The cast aluminium is a bit softer and will wear out quicker.
However, for the average sport flyer, they are just fine.
Expect to see contradictory opinions, especially from North America. Unfortunately, someone started a rumour in 2008 about the DC's being inferior and that rumour is still sticking to some degree.
The vast majority of our DC engines are sold to Europe, most likely because the crowd there was not privy to the misinformation.

If anyone is interested I will post a (long) story about the history of the DC crankcases, written by the most famous Cox collector of all - Dan Sitter.

That would be cool if it is OK with you.
I never really went for Die Cast crankcases as they in my opinion are not the nicest looking
