Ours are full hard stainless steel, so a little different than the material Cox used which is steel, then black oxide (the newer ones anyway).

Re: For sale: New Cox parts and tools
I saw that earlier very nice... Regardless, they are not made by cox therefore to a collector they are worthless.
Plus those edges look a bit sharp. Do you file them? I would suggest filing them or a disclaimer.
Another thing, Cox built these things to last they are fantastic they way they are. With normal use cox wrenches will last forever.
And another thing that no one can boast is the fact that they were in the hands of cox's great engineers. Men that most mean could only dream of being like.
Matt, could you please give us some information about the specifics of the heat treating your wrenches underwent?
Cond.
Don't be shy you`re not giving away the recipe of Big-Mac Sauce
Hardening Temp and time Hardness (Rockwell C) Tensile Strength (MPa)

They are not heat treated, just full hard 302 stainless steel. The gauge is increased slightly for better durability as well (I would tend to bend some of the Cox wrenches over time). The edges are not as rounded as the OEM ones, but are not too dangerous.

Not if they are hardened...microflitedude wrote:A trip through the tumbler would fix the edges.
Oops matt Didn't read your not hardened. I agree its a superior material and it's corrosion resistance properties are phenomenal However we`re talking nostalgic value here.

Or, the purchaser could run a file over any rough edges should there be an issue......

Nostalgic value?
I suppose if they are in a box with an RR1 then sure. Otherwise it's a tool.

Re: For sale: New Cox parts and tools
Filing would need to be done before the oxide coating, as it would wear it off and look ugly.
Re: For sale: New Cox parts and tools
Some gun bluing would fix that. Birchwood Casey super blue is a good choice.
