Wow, the price jumped way up in the last minute. Oh well, I thought it was too good to be true.

There are softwares available that do sniping, so the whole thing has very little in common with an auction...

There is software but you are essentially hading over your eBay log-in credentials to to total strangers.
I always snipe in real-time. I click "submit" at the 7 second mark.

I'll have to remember that. !!
Re: [SOLD]NIB Tee Dee 010, going in 57 minutes, $58.09
I push it a bit further and hit the button at 5 seconds.
Because of my mild OCD I only bid when the time is a multiple of five.
I know weird but I can't help it.

See my previous comment as to why I don't recommend those services.
Re: [SOLD]NIB Tee Dee 010, going in 57 minutes, $58.09
yeah I don't reccomend it either but many do use them.
Re: [SOLD]NIB Tee Dee 010, going in 57 minutes, $58.09
In the sniper programs you can even set up a group, so that you don't end up fighting with a friend over the same item...
I don't use them either, I just make a bid a think that it is worth and that I can afford. If some collectors have more money, then so be it.

Guys,
I've been using esnipe for a while now (7-8 years) and if I place a high enough bid, I'll win every time, period.
I'll set my max price, set time for 3 seconds, and go back to whatever I was doing, done...I'll still do a manual bid, if its in the evening or something.

Mark, isn’t that always the case with or without esnipe? A high enugh bid will always win.

Ahaha, I think I see the logic. Esnipe will prevent you from bidding against yourself until the last 3 seconds! Is that the purpose? That makes sense.

I do not like to use the snipe programs, however sometimes auctions forces me to use them. When all the good auctions end in the USA, it is between 1:00 and 4:00 AM. I will not give up sleep for them!
But when it is a real nice deal, like a NIB RR1, sleeping is no option cause i am to excited to get it!

Re: [SOLD]NIB Tee Dee 010, going in 57 minutes, $58.09
Very often If you place your max bid early it will often drive up the price, creating a ‘bidding war’ with other buyers. The beauty of bidding at the last couple seconds is other buyers don’t get a chance to raise their bids if item is below market value.
Re: [SOLD]NIB Tee Dee 010, going in 57 minutes, $58.09
I never place my first and only bid until the last seconds.

Yes as an early bid is a wasted bid!

,,Typing like a mad man to increase your max right at the last few milliseconds,,lol.
Better have a good connection or you will loose.
If I really want a item, I set the cap to where they cannot chase it down. Sometimes cost's me more money, but I get the item I want. Having said that, I am guilty of driving the prices up,,sorry.
If you dont have expendable income, don't go near Ebay. (Should be there company slogan,,lol.)

Well it is always the highest bid that wins, independent on when it was made...

Yes that is true!
but you are far more likely to overpay if you put it in early.

LOL,, yes and no. Since Mecoa is in the process of moving (if they haven't already) and my email requests were tossed aside more or less,( I am low on the totem pole,,I know) it was a bit more that I wanted to pay, but I got it. Now I have the chance to reporduce that item locally and maybe hand a few out to my CEF buddies for a few duckets or ??,,,Hmmm?.
