A TD .049 NIB? I've been offered one that is for sale by a friend. (I don't want to go through the hassle of E-bay bidding and I don't want to take advantage of a friend.)

It's not like buying a mega-buck Ferrari Testa Rosa.

What would you offer for this engine?

Indra:

Thank you.

Uncertain of the vintage. How may it be determined? Which years are the best?

Well cox the earlie the better for most people but if the fits are good you can judge.
Earlier ones are more desirable so if you want to collect it then earlier is better.
But for a sport flyer it will be good anyway.

I think it depends what your intent is Dave.
Collecting obviously older the better.
And if running it a pre Estes, better fit and finish aparently.
I think you might get a very early one (v early 60's) in a blister pack.
I got one that's allegedly 63 in crystal case, which I think go up to
mid 70's. If it doesn't have a mesh over the venturi it's pre 73.
Once in the boxes you need to look at the address on the back
to ascertain the period although there seems some doubt as to
the very last address /es and exact time frame.
The Christmas lets pay silly money period seem to be the wane at last so even though
I've seen them at 150 I recon 75 in his hand/he doesn't have Fleabays cut or FeyPal
to worry about.
I await correction.s.
Very Happy

Thanks, John.

Since I haven't actually seen this engine yet you've given my some ideas of what I might expect to find and I won't get too excited until I examine it closely.

Okay then,
Hope you and your friend make a fair deal and let us know how it turns out,

There's a big snow and ice storm here so it will be a few days before I see my friend and the engine in question.

My friend came by the engine when he and his wife were cleaning out his late father-in-law's stuff in Idaho. He had a lot of larger nitro planes and obsolete radio gear none of which would be of interest to me. They left most of that in Idaho.

Will keep you posted on further developments.

Is it boxed like...
(I'm talking prices as if the engines are .049s not .051s, the images are just examples of packaging)
Note: the crystal box pic and the bubble pack pick are not mine.

Hi Admin,

I think your prices are about right, but your dates on the Tee Dee boxes are off.
