Any new flights with your VooDoo?
I saw this vid today reminded me of your project.

Hello Brad thanks for asking. No video yet and I happen to be in California till September 16th so when I return home I will shoot one probably with a home assembled TD051 swapping the currently used 049 on the VooDoo.

…...
Hello Brad and others interested,
I shot a vid today on the TeeDeeVooDoo in flight with its 049TeeDee engine spinning now an APC 4,75x4 prop, and beefed up with the Nelson turbo plug and an improved exhaust throttle linkage:
The Sony headcam leaves a lot to be desired and my next hobby-related investment will be for a GoPro or similar cam that provides better resolution. On top of the weaknesses of the Sony cam I also tilted it a bit low on the headband so the near-passes in altitudes are missing.
I have also audio-tached the engine because I guessed it may have unloaded over 27k rpm….see the vid at around 2.06 min (I know good ole Doppler may have falsified the measured rpm but I still believe the engine unloaded around 27k)
After landing:

András
The other guys plane ----> ........... <------ TeeDeeVooDoo
Did you like the prop selection compared to the Cox 5x4?
Best peak static: 21,802 rpm / 10.6oz thrust / .151hp / 113w / 82.5mph pitch speed.
Best pass unloaded: 28,827 rpm at 1:43 mins. into the flight / 109 mph in a bit of a dive.
Average good level passes 26,500 -27,300 / 100 mph to 103 mph.
Energy management is key and taking advantage of downwind passes, you will improve as your flying skills
hone in. Once you can fly solid level passes in front of you at eye level from a steady shallow dive down wind.
No bouncing on the air with the wing, steady pitch angle maintaining a steady acceleration to the apex of the
pass which is always in front of the camera when doing runs for filming / documenting purposes.
With practice per this particular plane / prop I think you can hit 114 mph. The 4.5x4 may give you more
speed with good energy management.

Re: TeeDeeVooDoo- my current project
Thank you Brad! The APC 4.75x4 is awesome! Lets the engine rev higher and provides more thrust than the COX 5x4.
On a more stretched land I could fly level and downwind but the space is limited and the field is packed with scattered trees and bushes let alone the vicinity of a dense road passing by.
I will find the best location on this beautiful field for a good uninterrupted level flight and repeat the vid with passes nearer to me.
Thanks for your advice!
