Propeller 5.5 x 4 of Cox not flexible.
Friends, I'm trying different measures of propellers in my medallion 049 rc, I feel very comfortable and I notice a very good performance with the gray propeller 5.5 x 4 of Cox not flexible.
I see that there is no Stock in the main Cox houses like ExModelEngines / Cox International / Select Hobbies.
I understand that it is not available or in any case discontinued. Someone knows, knows where I can get. In any case, what would his replacement be?
Attached photo shows.
Thank you!

Master Airscrew offers a 5.5x4 and a 5.5 x 4.5. Blade tips can be easily trimmed down if needed.

thanks, Ken !, you mean these? ... the blades are a little thinner, that is, the Cox are wider, anyway do you think they would be the replacement for the Cox?

You can find them on Ebay I bought 5 black ones a few months back just have to keep
an eye out for them to show up.
How much does the grey prop weigh?
Here 8 four packs available get them while you can:

Brad, given the difference in weight, which you indicate to me is flexible or hard?

Re: Propeller 5.5 x 4 of Cox not flexible.
Yes typical flexible black prop, competition grey props are always stiff so if
everyone uses the same prop odds are best the pitch is constant for all
contestants. I mentioned these rare props as they are what's available currently
on ebay.

Hello Brad, we were able to cancel the purchase, since what I need is that it is rigid material and not the flexible one, since it loses shape when it turns at high rpm and loses performance.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Propeller 5.5 x 4 of Cox not flexible.
Most know black means flexible, it was the (unique 5.5x4 size) that had me mentioning
the opportunity. The reed valve engines typically will do very well with this prop as they
do not make the power of a TD. Finding a Grey version will be very difficult I have not seen
the grey prop on ebay ever. It is then a compromise one to consider.
If you wish for a ridged prop perhaps the Master Airscrew 5.5x4 will work for you:

Re: Propeller 5.5 x 4 of Cox not flexible.
This was the prop of choice back in the 1/2a (Tee Dee) R/C pylon days, cut to 4.75 with a scimitar style tip. Also cutting the prop down would add to the pitch, not a lot of large pitch 1/2a props made.

Re: Propeller 5.5 x 4 of Cox not flexible.
Thank you Mauricio!
Mark did they use the black props or the gray ones cut to 4.75x4?
I have used the APC 4.75x4 the bummer part is the hub is a bit big.
I have some Master Airscrew 5.5x4.5 on tap but use them on my .07 / .09 engines.
Too much prop for the TD .049 perhaps cut down to 4.5x4.5 would be ok.
TD .09 did 112mph with that prop flying with the DART.

Re: Propeller 5.5 x 4 of Cox not flexible.
Hi There,
I have one Cox grey 5.5 X 4 prop and one Cox grey 6 X 4 prop (which can be trimmed to match the 5.5 X 4 prop). If you're still interested in buying,
I am willing to sell these last two props from my collection for US$5.00 each + postage from Canada. Good luck!
Cheers,
Paul pgibeault at shaw.ca

The Black Master Airscrew, i don't remember for sure but i think APC 1/2a props at the time only had low pitch props for Norvells, VA's, etc. The Cox grey competition prop was considered a little wide and couldn't turn up the rpm as others could.

Hello Thank you very much for your interest, sincerely I already buy three units, for now I am not needing, it is good to know that you have at least one, if I am interested in the future and you still have it, we will try it.
