That stick he’s on brings that rattler closer to the camera, it’s an old fisherman’s trick to make the fish (Snake) look larger by holding it closer to the camera! Never held a venomous reptile, but have had a couple that took at least two to handle safely. Started a long time ago when my son “volunteered” to take care of the schools pet python

No, unfortunately there’s a big hole in his neck, about 3” back from his head. Yup, he’s dead. Well, at least it not a cat.....

How long is that rattlesnake? Forced perspective photo but still looks
like a big one around 5ft. They have been recorded up to around 8ft.
I have caught a few myself but kept them alive to be sent to the local venom
lab for milking / making anti toxin. 5.5ft was about the max I ever came across.

Well Looks like to me his head is as big as a paint can (gallon size) That is one big rattler ! Around here about 4' is a nominal I know pictures can bee deceiving but Damn !
