Cox International's OEM #1299 Golden Bee overhaul kit
Hi Bernie, I'm posing this question "here".. for the benefit of others. Does this kit contain the Copper-star reed? I can't tell from your photo.. but there looks to be a protective-sealed item in there, that I'm assuming may be the copper reed. "Thanks"

That's a pretty good deal.. with the nice spinner and all...

Overhaul kits are supposed to include a new reed...at least all the ones I've came across included a reed.

There's definitely a reed in the OEM package.. and its vintage (Santa Ana) would suggest that it's the copper one. A nice resource for someone looking to rebuild their Golden-Bee to original-status..

Oooo, if they DO, I'll want one or two! Just for fun and old time sake!

RE: Cox International !299 overhaul kit
I have two Cox 1299 Golden Bee overhaul kits.
One has the later clear oval reed and the other has the sealed package that I'm 100% positive has the copper star reed.
I base this on a 399 Baby Bee .049 kit and a 1996 .049 product engine kit for 191 through 191-5 engines.
Both are open and I just looked and both have copper star reeds in the small cardboard package.
My in hand evidence is that an overhaul kit with the small square package definitely has the copper star reed...
YMMV.................

Re: Cox International's OEM #1299 Golden Bee overhaul kit
Sorry for not catching this post earlier but, yes, part # 1299 does contain the star-shaped copper / beryllium reed Of the 150 we had, we are down to only 4 in stock.
The "classic" gaskets we derive from disassembling new engines and we don't have many of those in stock, as only about 5% of the "Surestart" engines seem to have those and those are the engines we bought in bulk.
Buyers seem to want those to restore old engines to OEM specs. Checked Matt's site and it seems what he has listed are the ones that we / he manufacture, i.e. "current production". We don't have those listed at all because we are still selling OEM gaskets and are using the current production ones for our engines as well as for the rebuild kits, etc.
However, we have no problem creating a listing for them and will do so on Monday under "bulk" only, so as not to unduly confuse buyers by offering three different 3-packs that are almost alike
