2017 Sig Fly-In Montezuma, Iowa
So here we go again! Rolled into Montezuma yesterday afternoon and set up my camper next to the 'Sig Hangar'.
Tony and Evelyn showed up a bit later, after getting a tour of the Sig Factory in town. The weatherman says it's gonna be hot and windy over the weekend, so looking forward to logging some flying with them early today.
Compared to the run to S.M.A.L.L. last week, I'm running a skeleton crew with the four planes I brought to Iowa. Assembled for a cleaning late yesterday, I took a photo of 'The Three Amigos' posed in front of the Cub's hangar.

Re: 2017 Sig Fly-In Montezuma, Iowa
My current favorite of the Sig Fly-In, this big Rascal braved the winds for several flights on Friday:
The orange and yellow-trimmed Rascal behind it got it's gear bent on landing and had to retire.
The crew of Evelyn/Tony put up a mid-day flight to shame the larger planes into the air...with an at-your-feet arrival after the little two-channel plane used up it's fuel.
A Gee Bee R-4 dead-sticks for the pasture with a dead engine. Didn't see the recovery, but was told it had minimal damage.

Re: 2017 Sig Fly-In Montezuma, Iowa
Well, this Fly-In probably won't rank with my past two--flying wise---but still a great time with these fine folks.
I got up early, determined to scatter some castor mist with my other two R/C's, and managed to pull it off.
The wind was also out early, but right down the runway, so Mud Dabber got fueled up and camera'd up, and sent out to play in the breeze.
Plenty of rock and rolling across a couple flights before the spotlight was put on my Kadet Senior Sport 'Big Red'.
Tony took a turn on the sticks, flying a Kadet for the first time since he was a kid, and caught plenty of harassment from me when the wind flipped Big Red onto it's back after touching down:
Then I took a turn and got my comeuppance:
So, we're still here, but the wind is REALLY picking up. I'm gonna prowl the place with my video camera, but am satisfied with my planes all being in attractive chunks. I may roll out this evening and head back to Missouri, with maybe a tourist excursion here or there.

Any landing you can walk away from is a Good landing!! Looks like that could be rephrased, any landing where you can pickup your plane in one piece is a Good Landing!!
Great pictures, looks like loads of fun!

Kim I am kinda curious why you got to Sig a week early?
I just noticed that Sean and Dan are heading up that way this Friday 16th for the June 17th event
Chris Rudner is flying up in his Skylark and seeking some one to coordinate his landing according to a post on Stunt Hanger

Ah starting to make some sense.. RC one week CL another...I think
I also suspect Chris R got the contact info same as you just found...thanks for looking it up
I was gonna google the field info
As an established pilot I guess Chris already had the airport info and may have really been asking for the CD contact to coordinate his arrival for the C/L event

Re: 2017 Sig Fly-In Montezuma, Iowa
Figured that he would know, but a little info never hurts.
Funny thing is that I didn't even know about the Control Line Fly-In 'till this past trip. Sure wish them a lot better wind conditions than this past weekend!
I may try to hit both of them next year. I'd packed along my Sig Zlin Control Liner, since last year I saw some guys flying C/L on the last day. I whimped out this time though, calling it quits and coming home Saturday night.
Finally emptied out the van this morning...gonna take a shop vac to it and gear up for the Brodhead run next month...
