It's nice to have a son that shares your interests, they are always on the look-out for stuff.  Fathers Day came early on this Memorial Day when Mark presented me with this box of goodies.

My first Aurora.  I think it came on one of their plastic models?

I can use the Spitzy fuel tank.

The three glow plugs are unique.  I believe the one on the left is a vintage Enya plug, A "Bulldog" plug and ???

The .15D Enya, my first vintage diesel.

Never heard of the Taifun 1.5 "Hurrikan."  It has a serial number?

The Webra is neat but will need a lot of work.

All bought for the price of the Cox .010.

PS - Remembered, not a Spitzy tank but an O&R .049 I believe.

Bob

The plug on the left looks to me like a Arden glow plug . The Enya .15 is a sweet running diesel. Mine starts right up and does what it was purposely built for which is not to sit on a engine stand.

The plug on the left is an Arden plug, the center an OK, and the right is the first K&B threaded plug.

The Enya glow plug had a ring under the flattish top ball, just like the current Enyas. The Arden had a single round ball.

The picture with 3 engines shows the first 3 US sub .099s. The left is the K&B infant .020 with Lud Kading's (the K of K&B) designed glowhead that made that little engine possible. Next is Mel Anderson's Baby Spitfire with the thread style K&B plug. Very soon Anderson would have their own plug on the market. Finally an OK Cub with an ENYA plug. The Cub was the first mass produced .049 and used the Arden plug when introduced. I installed the Enya by mistake since at a glance it looked like the Arden. Again, soon after the Cub was out, OK introduced their own plug (actually made by Swanson).

That Taifun Hurrikan is a screaming little engine, quite popular in their day. But, oh, oh, yet another victim of slip joint pliers or the Vise-Grip. These are tools of the devil and have ruined more thrust washers, prop drivers, and cylinder fins then any amount of rough use or crashers could ever do!

Your son did good!

Thanks Bill and all, You told me 90% of what I wanted to know, especially about that Hurrikan.  Yes, tool marks.  I have railed about them here and other places.  Tooth picks of something similar stuck in the exhaust ports and a little heat as needed to back off stuck props.

I really haven't had a chance to fondle any of them yet, but am eager to get the old crock pot boiling again.

The Webra is a ball bearing engine and probably beyond hope, but as the blind man said "We shall see."  The rest are savable.  The Cox .010 will give me something to run, my other is NIB and me being me I don't want to run it.  Save it for you guys to crank up some day.

The Enya .15D has two needles in the box along with a venturi and NVA.  It has the early rotating 360 degree, no stop or bleeder carburetor.  I'm not familiar with Enya diesels and wonder if it might of came that way, optional one or the other?  Probably not. Whats the formula for cooking up diesel fuel or is it available commercially?

What's the story on the clear plastic Cox style back plate with the intake 90 out from the vent and filler tubes?  Anything on the Aurora?

Whats the temperature in your home town on any given day????????? Smile Smile Smile Smile

Edit add.......Oh yes, I love that Taifun. Domed piston, multi port, green all over. Reed engine too. I hope I can get it to run.

Bob, Davis Diesel sells fuel which can be purchased directly from him or Tower Hobbies. Eric Clutton aka Dr. Diesel has this on his site http://www.cafes.net/doctordiesel/DDfuel.htm I personally don't like messing around with ether too much as it's very dangerous. I buy the fuel or have my friend Rob at the field make some. He uses Eric's methods.
