Lynne and I saw him and his very talented 5-piece band this past Sunday night at a concert at Mechanic's Hall in Worcester Massachusetts. Lynne had seen him last Fall in nearby Woonsocket, RI at the Stadium Theater. I couldn't make the show.. because of a last-minute obligation with my band.. so my mom went with her. Lynne enjoyed the show so much.. that she bought tickets when they became available for the Worcester show. (Birthday presents for she and I.. mine 1/29 and her's 3/3)
Burton will be 70 years old.. and he's still "killing it" (+++++) I was literally electrified and mesmerized by the man's talent, energy and especially his graciousness. He probably does at least 3 shows a week.. and has been keeping that pace for decades.
He's from Winnipeg, Canada.. as well as most of his current band-members.. (shout-out to Bernie/Cox International) Burton also does solo-concerts playing the piano. He's absolutely [bleep]....
If you're my age +... you'll remember several great hits of The Guess Who Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman wrote most of them.

Thanks Joe. It was more than fun.. more like "epic". Maybe cause' I'm a musician.. but the show was really terrific.
We have a recording of Burton's "Up Close and Alone" album. It's just "him".. playing the piano. It's astounding. There's a YouTube vid of that concert that I really want to watch. Having a good-quality audio-system is a BIG plus. I usually turn the gain up as high as I can stand.. then back-it-off one-click..

Ha! I fondly remember the Guess Who.
Burton Cummings had, and I see still has, one hell
of a set of pipes. "These Eyes" still floors me.
Thanks Roddie.

My pleasure Bob... Check-out some of the other Burton Cummings vids on YouTube. Most in the last 5 years are high-def vids that you'll really enjoy!
A concert...six years ago.. and a very inspirational lyric... Turn-up the volume on your speakers...

Isn't that Burton?
Yes, big fan of the Guess Who in high school. Burton was very popular in Canada being that he is Canadian. We had a few of his solo records when I was a kid living in Ontario.

I know this may sound stupid, but here it goes.... Had the pleasure of meeting Burton a few times approximately 17 years ago, give or take. He was a very good friend and so-called 'silent partner' in a restaurant locally, as well as one in Winnipeg (I am just outside of Winnipeg). His friend opened a second location in Oakbank, and had a piano in the small lounge. This is where I had first met him when he was visiting. Would play a little here or there. Was kind of cool to me at the time. Just thought I would share.
P.S. My favorite Guess Who song is Rain Dance
