Yes, it is one of our eBay accounts. We try to price fairly but, for the item in question, it was an auction starting at 98 cents and competing bidders set the selling price.

That's E bay at its best! A willing seller and competing buyers determine the final value.

These auction results often occur as a result of two buyers both having the same cunning plan of putting in a large bid near the end of the auction in order to win. Their idea being that no matter what they bid eBay will only ask them to pay $1 or $2 over the maximum bid of the second highest bidder. The idea probably works a lot of the time since most bidders will set their max bids at a reasonable level. It falls apart when two or more people try it on the same auction.

If on the other hand those bidders slugged it out over the course of minutes or hours until they ended up at that level then perhaps just maybe two people really did feel the part was worth that much to them.

In this case it was actually four people over 6 hours with one last-second sniper.
