If I look at the test performance curves I see the COX TD09 is more than 2x as powerful as the Enya.

I have some TD .09 data to share:
Published on Jul 2, 2016
Best level pass 143mph / per prop calc / 5.25x6.25E
Wavescope: 232.07 kmh / 144.2mph /down wind / Best unloaded 24,100 rpm
The reading was taken at 1.52mins into the vid.
Static 16,975 rpm at launch
Static: 13.8 oz thrust with speed prop
Temp 96F / 30% nitro
Recommend 7x3 for good thrust.
6.5x4 good sport prop option

Hi, thanks for the information, so your comment, to see if I understand correctly, you say:
according to the Cox Tee Dee curves 09 it is twice as potent as Enya?

That's what he said. I've heard that the TD .09 is surprisingly powerful for its size.MauricioB wrote:balogh wrote:If I look at the test performance curves I see the COX TD09 is more than 2x as powerful as the Enya.

Re: TeeDee09-Enya09-OS.10FSR & P-51 (Video restoration) Pag2.
It is not a fair comparison though, it also depends on what you are after...
The TD is all about maximum power, no throttle, no muffler, large venturi (needs pressure) etc. Much more like a combat .09 engine, but there the technology has now gone much further with the Profi and Fora engines.
The Enya will pull larger props, be more quite, easier to handle etc. More like the Cox .09 Medallion with the throttle option.
In terms of outright power the Enya will be pretty close of you make the comparable mods. No muffler a larger CL venturi etc. and the power will be comparable. In fact the CL Enya used to come with an intake restrictor that one could easily remove and just leave the muffler off.

The unmuffled maximum performance of the ENYA 09 is 0,115 BHP as per the link below:
http://www.sceptreflight.net/Model%20Engine%20Tests/Enya%2009-II%20(1).html
There is another test here that puts the output max to 0,175 BHP...
http://www.sceptreflight.net/Model%20Engine%20Tests/Enya%2009-II%20(2).html
The unmuffled output of the COX TD09 is 0,28 BHP
http://www.sceptreflight.net/Model%20Engine%20Tests/Cox%20Tee%20Dee%2009.html
This is still a 60% advantage for the COX even if we take the second ENYA 09 test results.
This is all I wanted to say...Reddies are welcome if I am seen too subjective but numbers like above talk for themselves...

Re: TeeDee09-Enya09-OS.10FSR & P-51 (Video restoration) Pag2.
Those tests are for the older Enya .09 II, there are two more test at the same site for the Enya III model; Enya .09 III CL and here Enya .09 III CL&RC
Those show a power of about .24hp, with the larger venturi (still on suction) and similar fuel to the TD test.
The engine asked about in this thread is the later, ball bearing, Enya .09 IV. I have not seen any testnumbers for it, but I have a few of them myself. The stock RC version will spin a 7x4prop at around 14500rpm on 10% nitro, and provides a very nice handling engine, much more suitable for regular sports flying on larger props.
If outright power is the only thing needed, then the Enya will get there too, with easily reversible changes.

Hi, Andras. I clicked the greenie. I wouldn't give reds for thoughtful posts where the poster believes it to be useful information. I don't liberally apply either one, usually just greens to encourage useful intent... or fun, this case being the former.

It doesn't roll off the virtual tongue as well as "Greenie" does. Referring to the green or red bar appearing in a post when someone clicks the small - and + buttons. As in your first post in this thread,Surfer_kris wrote:Reddies? Never heard of it...

Thanks Rusty for a fair approach, sometimes I feel I am too adamantly defending COX engines against any other brand (Norvels in the first place.... no I would rather not be provocative) and this may blow the fuse in some of you guys.......and sorry for my Hunglish, I just flipped the "greenie" to the opposite and arrived at "reddie"

Re: TeeDee09-Enya09-OS.10FSR & P-51 (Video restoration) Pag2.
I guess no-one on a cox forum will ever object to defending cox engines, but it is always good to be fair. If you read through the engines tests, you'll find that the Enya III and IV models have no common parts with the earlier Enya II. Chinn also states that up to 14000rpm the Enya III is in fact stronger than the cox .09TD, which then comes out ahead at higher revs. The Enya .09 had the highest torque ever measured by a .09 engine at the time....
So to answer the original question, it is all matter of the intended use, each engine has its own merits.

Thanks for the information herein provided.
I comment to you; long, buy this model to a Mr. that he had given to his nephews, but the nephews were 4 and 5 years old, so playing with the model as if it were just a toy, so to that does not end completely destroyed decided to sell it. It was so I decided to buy it to restore the model never assembled to fly, but just by the play of children, has some nicks and scratches that decided to repair and return it to its original condition, build it and fly it.
I'm at the stage of restoration, and just have the availability of two engines, Enya 09 version IV and Cox Tee Dee 09 with ring speed control, which is why the consult you, because I like the Cox, but it is possible that this model best suits the Enya. You can not say that ...???

That is an easy choice then, just go with the Enya and a 7x4-7x5 prop, use plenty of castor in the fuel (20-25%) and 5-10% nitro.

Okay, thanks for helping me decide for one or the other motor (both options are available to me and wanted to use one of them). Then I will install the Enya 09 rc.
Thanks to everyone else for work each time I need!
I will please ask the site administrator to move this topic to Non-Cox Engines.
Thank you! M.

Re: TeeDee09-Enya09-OS.10FSR & P-51 (Video restoration) Pag2.
In their stock version they are very similar on low nitro fuel (5-10%).
The FSR has a rather low compression ratio and benefits from a higher nitro levels or a raised compression level. If you have a lathe you can remove about 0.10-0.15mm from the head and improve the power considerably. On a 7x4 prop and 10% nitro the stock FSR will make around 14800rpm, while with a higher compression ratio it will do about 15300rpm.
The FSR is a slightly nicer engine, in my opinion, it runs a little smoother as is it a modern schneurle ported engine (iron/steel construction).
