Cox TD tank mount not what it seems.

Cox TD tank mount not what it seems.
Here is something not seen everyday. It's packaged as a Cox TD tank mount but it's an unfinished PeeWee tank. The inside of the tank is turned but the reed portion is unfinished. This is a factory sealed package.

Darned summertime trainees
That's definitely a collectors item, kinda like a stamp with a printing error.
I wonder how many they packages and sent out before somebody figured out that the wrong bushel of parts was brought to packaging dept. But hey, the screws seem correct!

We once bought a dozen of what we thought to be the TD tank/mount only to find these when the parts arrived...must have been from the same packaging.
My fault for not requesting a picture prior to agreeing to purchasing them

I wonder if it was an "Estes Special".
What if you drill some holes in it to mount it to a Tee Dee .020 crankcase. You can have a Tee Dee .020 front end on a Pee Wee style tank.
Interesting collectors item otherwise.

At first I thought it might have an enlarged/threaded front-end, to screw into the case.. but there's no radial mount-ears. They'd also have to line-up squarely to the engine when tight, in order to get at the firewall screws. It would be lightweight though.. and a nice accessory for mounting a Tee Dee where a reedy had been.

Looks like Cox found a way to get rid of unfinished parts. It is unique.
