Re: Follow The World's Smallest Traveling Engine!
It's finally time for this engine to get moving! (exactly a year later )
This past weekend I took a trip out to the "Little Log House Pioneer Village" power show. It is held on the last full weekend of July. The property is filled with buildings that the owner moves and restores. Most of the buildings are "rescued" from being demolished. The insides of the buildings are decorated with related period authentic items. Many people bring their classic cars, tractors, engines, farm equipment and other collectibles to display and demonstrate. At select times during the day, they put on "wild west" bank robbery and jail break reenactments. This year they held a WWII reenactment (if I recall other years included Civil War reenactments, Vietnam War reenactments, WWI reenactments...).
http://www.littleloghouseshow.com/general-information/
Anyway, I figured what better place to bring an engine than an engine show? It was probably the smallest engine there.
Here's the World's Smallest Traveling Engine with the Kenyon Power Plant that served Kenyon, MN from the 1940s to the 1990s. The engines were out of WWI battleships. Zoom in on the picture to read the sign. These are probably the largest engines there.
I have a video of them running that I'll have to post.
Here's the Engine Shed (one of the engine buildings).
Here it is at the Saw Mill
The Saw Mill is powered by this Case.
Here's the Federal Dam train depot.
The engine is sitting on the communications office counter. Note the telegraph equipment in the background.
Looking from this view, the counter is on the left side.
Here's the engine with WWII Jeeps, tanks and quonset huts.
This is just a very small fraction of it all, I probably should've took more pictures but I was too busy taking it all it myself
The little engine got the attention of a few guys who spotted me taking pictures of it, most of them knew of Cox engines but never seen one so small.
It will be going to Jason next, and after that it depends on who is ready for it!

Re: Follow The World's Smallest Traveling Engine!
Okay, I will place my order for a micro Ringmaster kit with Roger this week so I have something to fly it with. Thanks.

Re: Follow The World's Smallest Traveling Engine!
Nice Rusty! Are you going to be ready to go after Jason?
I really think Cox International and or Ex Model Engines should be a vendor out there with a flying circle. Hell, I'd help run it! Some of the guys from the forum could come out and put on some flying shows. If I had the $$, I'd do it myself...seriously. This show and the Back to the 50's car show (one of the largest classic car shows in the US) at the MN state fairgrounds would be great places to setup a Cox engine stand. Something I've been thinking about for awhile.

Re: Follow The World's Smallest Traveling Engine!
Hi Jacob. I'd really rather be down on the list a bit. Let me see how soon I can get my model, as Roger has to work it into his schedule to cut it for me. He hasn't been logged in for a month, but I PMd him last night. Then when I get it in hand I can get an idea when I'll be ready to fly it.
Thanks,
Rusty
Thanks,
Rusty

Re: Follow The World's Smallest Traveling Engine!
Well fellas,
At long last it's finally on the move! Rene should receive the engine Friday and hopefully he has some good plans for it.
As for me, I was only able to verify operation and get a reliable run out of it. So I would like to stay on the list as written and receive it back so I can post a video of me flying with it.

I still have it. Want to make one more excursion with it to the Air-Zoo, in Kalamazoo. Then send it on to the next in line. ...whoever that is....are you ready?

she is sitting on a place of importance on my workbench. I do have intentions of taking her on a road trip to Kalamazoo and visit the “Air-zoo” to get a few more pictures.
But, If the next person in line is ready and wants it I can pack her up and send out post haste. Otherwise she’s being stored in a cool dry place! (Tom Petty)

Yup, I still have her. If the next in line ( pkrankow) is ready and waiting, I can pack and ship her out tuitsuite. Otherwise,I plan on taking a small road trip and take her thru the “AirZoo” in Kalamazoo. Here’s a sample of where I want to take her:

I never did comment on the photo’s! Very nice! Good job getting those guys to let you touch that bird. Usually they are a little wary of strangers.
I gave you a green one, you earned it.

It is winter here, and going into Christmas. I won't be able to do more than examine it and send it on to the next person.

Well I'm just across the OH-PA border, half way between Youngstown and Pittsburgh, so I have the same conditions as you. As fast as this engine has been moving, you may as well hold it until you get some good weather.

Re: Follow The World's Smallest Traveling Engine!
I don't know how much PIA it would bee but sending the engine around to the people that are in Summer right now would bee the best way to get it to people that may want to run/fly the engine !? The List ....

Re: Follow The World's Smallest Traveling Engine!
If they guys in the southern states are ready and its warm enough for them to get r done then it would make sense to do that to keep it moving. I realize it got a slow start and that maybe set a precedence. Getting that little guy started in cold weather is near impossible without a hair dryer on it for warm up.

Re: Follow The World's Smallest Traveling Engine!
Pushing 35 degrees Celsius in the shade here, so running the little beggar wouldn't be an issue in these parts, but I'm not on the list as postage costs are just too inhibitive out here. I know I've had some generous members previously offer to help, but having had no real experience with Tee Dees of any size I woudn't feel confident with it. I'd much rather practise on an engine of my own than run the risk of damaging this one. Now if we were to do this with a Babe Bee , that would make all the difference. No insurance, minimal packaging, easily repaired or replaced if something happened
