Dale was always thinking of ways to get kids into Speed events at contests and the Nationals. He created the 1/2A Proto and later the 1/2A Profile Proto Speed events. Proto was a small sized version of B Proto with 29's which was sort of a follow-on after the loss of B Team Race to Rat Race in the early 60's.
This model was a 1/2A Proto model that didn't need a pan, fancy carving skills, etc of most 1/2A Proto designs. The simple sheet metal and bolt-on aspect of the motor mounting was to help kids see a simple soultion to a contest model, and use the engine out of their Mustang or P-40, Stuka, etc. Cool concept.

Kari, the plan references a Grish 5.5" x 4" L/H was used.. which is contradictory to the article's mention of a Cox 6 x 3.. which apparently was for independent engine tests by the magazine.

Thanks Roddie. I thought I saw a recommended prop size somewhere and looked long and hard at the article text but somehow missed that.
On the right column of page 13 there is a hint about using a L/H prop too.
