Cox Engine of The Month
Ratty Cox glow heads

Ratty Cox glow heads
What's the nastiest ratty looking glow head you ever got on an engine? Below are 2 that I got over the past few years of collecting Cox engines. The one on the right is a W head and still works.

I have some ratty ones that all work, even a W, but I can't compete with yours.
You must fly over pavement.

I think you win --- I've never seen one as abused as the W head.
Heads
Those heads sure took a beating. Never seen any this bad. Some I recieved had plier marks on them. Seen one guy using needle nose pliers to remove head.

Re: Ratty Cox glow heads
I think you take the award for the most abused glow heads, I do have a few with messed up fins and one that can't even be removed with a wrench because the notches have been bent apart too much. The head on my Wen-Mac is trashed pretty good.

Who needs a glow head wrench, when the channel locks are within easy reach.

Re: Ratty Cox glow heads
Did the bottom contact on Cox glowplug battery clips used to fit under the top fin on the head? It seems like I remember that from my childhood memories, on my Stuka, P-40 and PT-19 that had a Babe Bee.

Pretty sure, yes. Some of mine are like that. Makes more sense to me.

I have an old cox engine starting instruction pamphlet and it says the bottom part of the cox glow plug clip rests on top of the glow head while the top part of the clip is pressed down and snaps onto the center post. That was for a .049. For the .020 I use the first groove down and for the .010 I use the second groove down.

Goodnight! I am not sure that is even possible with pliers. Did you run it over with a car? Or perhaps sucked through a jet intake...... BTW was that from the .020 you traded me? LOL.
Nevermind you posted the answer as I was asking HA!

Yeah that is a tee dee high compression head!
It was the best head i had and was contemplating sending it to you but i thought that would be a bit rude!

Re: Ratty Cox glow heads
Looks like large needle nose pliers squeezing with tremendous force, constantly slipping up over the head.
Possibly some channel-lock action there, too.
