Or more appropriately cardboard or plastic, or better yet balsa or plastic. Not much doubt that "balsa fly's better".

Both of these arrived today. An ebay canopy less Cox F4U Corsair and a nostalgia buy balsa "Cyclone" made by Black Hawk Models .

I had posted earlier about how the price of these had escalated from the $2.95 that I paid for my Scientific Cyclone model many years ago to today's Cyclone price of $35.00. The $35 Cyclone just might be worth it.

I would be hard pressed to go to the LHS and buy the balsa etc. that went into this kit for $35.00, then still have to cut and shape.

All parts are nicely packed in individual envelopes. Scientific if I recall correctly just dumped the parts into a box.

I can't wait to build it. Presently I don't have a decent 1/2A plane to fly.

Anyone got a spare canopy? Smile

I don't have a spare canopy, but you could likely fabricate one if you can't find one.

Sand a block of material in the shape of one, then a heat gun and some blister-pack material and you should be able to form the plastic into a clear canopy of the right shape using the form you sanded.

Good idea.

My son is sending me his old Cox Corsair complete with canopy.  I can use it as an example.

[quote="Waffleman"][quote="rsv1cox"]Good idea.

When I was in the Navy during plane captain training I actually got to start a F4U Corsair, quite an experience.

Later, while stationed at Pensacola they had about a dozen lined up at an outlying field.  Wish I knew what happened to them, but I believe they were sold at auction." />

For those that haven't seen it, this is a fantastic video of two of my favorite aircraft.
