Re: Cox engine values down?
A couple of days back a new Olympic .15 engine with identical case, papers etc went for 173.00 and another new one with a red box went for 224.00. Those buyers must be feeling pretty pleased with themselves. What's so special about this one.

Those two engines were from the same seller, I sniped the second one. The photos looked like it was the day it was made, and it has the red sleeve also.
It will join my other shelf queens soon. I don't think the seller will be paid on the last one, crazy bidding war.

*SIGH*
I understand collecting and preserving these old engines that are in pristine shape. But just the thought of all those thousands of engines out there sitting on shelves or in closets that I'll never get a chance to fly....

Re: Cox engine values down?
Hi,
In fact, some cox engines value increased in this couple of years, I bought new in box Pee Wee with throttle ring about 2 1/2 years ago, and I paid USD39 , + USD12.75 ship to Asia country. I keep looking for Pee Wee with throttle ring recently and it cost around USD70 to USD85. For used Tee Dee 020, price seems increased too. Also, I can see new TD 010 at around USD120 few years ago, and the recent price nearly touching USD200 now.
For TD 049 or 051, most of bidders who looking for used one normally will look for used but untouched condition, which might be lower price than rebuild one because those users might have a lot of spare parts to rebuild it, and also enjoy rebuilding it.
I'm looking for used old dirty Tee Dee 049 at low price for years, but no luck yet, just because of the shipping cost at some places cost me around USD50-70 to ship to Asia country. Most sellers are not willing to send their items across the pond too. Bernie's and Matt's item shipping cost to Asia are really low, less than USD10 for small parts/ or an engine.
Ew

Re: Cox engine values down?
We recently listed 5 TD 049 / 051 engines for $120 to $130 and they all sold with 3 days.
We also recently listed 4 TD 010 engines for $120 to $160 (tank / no tank) and they sold within 24 hrs.
Cox engine pricing is strong but there was a glut of TD 049 / 051 on eBay recently and they mostly sold sub $80; hence we don't list ours there.

cox pee wee .020 r/c nitro model engine,npn 1057 scale 1972+
Whaddaya mean prices down?? There is this absolute moron on Ebay currently trying to sell a Cox .020 for $450! Where do these people come from? He is claiming it's rare due to the fact that it has a throttle. Also mentions that it's in the box. Well, it was at one time I suppose. Has about seventeen staples keeping it together now in what's left of the pathetic original packaging.
I am a serious collector myself. I have more than 50 original Cox engines with parts as well. Most all new in the original (no staples) packaging. I like to see the prices high myself as a collector, but why are some people so delusional in what they expect the values to be?
