I can't believe the variation in price that these engines sell for on eBay. I got a complete NOS Pee Wee .020 yesterday for $22.00 and there's one ending now that's up to $57.00, and it could go higher. Here's the one I got: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-COX-THIMBLE-DROME-ENGINE-VINTAGE-NEW-PARTS-/321083615754?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&nma=true&si=jP2BFFqmB8xXzp3UwdOK6Ma0Aw0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Here's the one ending now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-VINTAGE-COX-PEE-WEE-020-MODEL-AIRPLANE-ENGINE-/350732243839?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D333005%26algo%3DRIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D12%26meid%3D6181895577482729532%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D4%26sd%3D321083615754%26

This same seller has a Babe Bee that's up to $64.00. What's up with that? http://www.ebay.com/itm/350732246337?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

You did well. There is no rhyme or reason to what goes on, on Ebay. I have followed these engines on Ebay nearly every day for over a year and eventually I realized it it will never make sense. There are too many variables.

Price difference is USA shipping only vs worldwide shipping. Lots of money elsewhere vs just the USA.

My dad taught me a lesson when I was young. He said "Son, the value of anything is only what the highest bidder is willing to pay" He was right.

The seller gatafish has ove 10,000 feedback points and has a stellar reputation. Those who put in the years, make the big bucks. He rarely sells anything that's not mint on his main Ebay site and sells the junk on another. He also keeps his shipping cost down so his buyers can save money. All these points make a difference.

" The value of anything is only what the market will bare?" The prices of Cox Engines are going North, that's all I've been seeing. Compare the prices a year ago of Cox engines to present, the Rare NIB engines with papers and nice boxes are pulling large numbers on lots of auction sites. As time goes on, the prices are just going up and up just like everything else around us!! Who knows what a Strato Bug or RR1 with be worth in 10 years? LOTS more then today is all I know!!

I've bought from gatafish before, he's a great seller.

It can go the other way...... I joined Ebay in 1999. At the time I was heavy into AFX slot cars. The prices were insane for about 2yrs and then poof! It all went away. I went and looked last year to see what rare or hard to find slots were going for so I could flip mine into Cox stuff. Items weren't even pulling a third of what they were going for 12 yrs ago. So either the popularity dropped off or things weren't as rare as one thought.

lol!

I do Lew, some of us are collectors and some are collector/users or just plain users. So..... If the bottom falls out then I can continue to enjoy messing around with these things. And the collector can build up his collection for the next spike!!!

Ive been quite shocked at the rise in prices, im not a collector (yet) i like to run and use my engines, ive been trying to enlarge my 010 parts bin, but the prices have gone through the roof! that junker 010 on ebay recently went for 52$ +shipping Shocked i paid 30 for a new piston and back plate...damn. Now i see the red tank versions going for less than the black tank versions... what the.. this makes no sense DAMMIT!
