Airshow action
Well, spent all day today at an airshow over here in Aus. With all the talk on the travelling engine blog about snow & sub-zero temperatures it's a little hard to relate, so I'm with ekitten2. Another hot one here. Spent the day trying to watch the planes while trying to stay in the shade. My vintage machinery club had a display there and, as usual, I took along a couple of display boards of model engines. Most of the crowd are already into aircraft so the model engines always get a lot of attention. I have quite a display of diesels and most comments relate to distant memories of bruised & cut fingers. I think my McCoy .35 has inflicted more pain than any of my diesels. My 1/2A board has my full range of Cox engines, which are always recognised and remembered favourably.
A little drama early on, but no injuries fortunately. Prior to the show kicking off, this guy had trouble getting the plane to sit down in the heat off the asphalt and steady headwind & ended up on the road at the end of the strip.
Ouch....
Cheers.

When I was trying to start my sons fox .15 with a crap glow driver Friday my other big problem was keeping sweat out of my eyes. I think summer is coming early this year and I am not looking forward to it.Oldenginerod wrote:With all the talk on the travelling engine blog about snow & sub-zero temperatures it's a little hard to relate, so I'm with ekitten2. That stinks!
I hope it can be fixed, but I am sure it's not going to be cheap. Glad he wasn't hurt.
Jim, Summer is only coming early for you. Everywhere else is cold.

I agree with Ron --- winter is hanging on a long time here. I spent part of yesterday and this morning finishing clearing my driveway of 7.5" of ice, sleet and snow. It was so solid that I had to cut it into blocks and either carry or push them into the yard.
I'm looking forward to a little warmth and dry weather.
Re: Airshow action
What did the airplane hit? or what hit the airplane?
That's gonna be a serious repair job.
We had our first barbecue today at noontime.

Lieven.
The pilot hopped along the runway & couldn't get it to sit down. Some say he was travelling too fast and landed too far along the strip. He ran through a fence and hit a ditch alongside the road. The first picture shows it sitting on a public road. Didn't hit any cars. I believe it was a fairly new aircraft.
