Model Build topic board?

Model Build topic board?
I am quite new here, but if I may make a suggestion, what about a build topic board? I realize this is a Cox forum, but we have to put these superb engines into something right?
What I am wondering is why we don't we have a section that we can discuss our builds and maybe solicit advice and show off our models to other members? Don't get me wrong I can read/ write about these engines as the day is long, but I like to fly too. Just a suggestion.

Re: Model Build topic board?
Perhaps, not a bad idea. I see many things I could add but every time I test them out, things look out of place. I'll do some more tests here in the future. A model build section wouldn't be bad.
Re: Model Build topic board?
Thanks for considering. Like I said I'm new and definitely don't want to step on toes. It just seemed like a logical progression. Maybe you could put up a vote and if it deems unpopular then I will be fine with that.

Re: Model Build topic board?
Yes if the vote doesn't turn out good maybe it could be a sticky thread instead.
Re: Model Build topic board?
I like build threads. Common problems and solutions are documented as people have to figure them out, do work-arounds, etc. I've been posting my build threads on RCG. My Li'l Satan build has 16 pages and 236 posts as of today, as well as videos of my maiden flights. I have an extensive Li'l Jumpin Bean build thread too. I've saved a lot of blood sweat and tears by posting updates and getting advice from people who had already figured out what I was trying to do. I ended up with better models because of it.
I think it's a good idea, thanks Cribbs.

Re: Model Build topic board?
Agreed! Guys are always coming up with ideas or tricks to deal with problems in building their projects. A lot of them are of the "Well why didn't I think of that??!!" variety!
My problem has been, as new as this forum is, trying to remember exactly WHERE I saw a note, or trying to pick a word to cue up the search engine. A separate category might narrow it down quite a bit. We (myself) might need to be extra disciplined in our postings so that we don't wear out it's moderator with having to shuffling things!
Good idea, Cribbs !

Re: Model Build topic board?
+1 for me. I think build threads are great. As noted, these engines should go on something and a place to have them posted would be nice.
Re: Model Build topic board?
Admin:
Why NOT a "build forum"? I believe at it is a GREAT idea.
For a forum that hosts "The Redneck Zone", Admin's "not a bad idea" comment is hardly an enthusiastic endorsement.
Personally, the further CECF strays from it's purpose the less I am interested.
If the Admin is trying to lure commerical sponsorship from Cox hobby interests which will be more successful? Sticking with Cox engines and applications or catering to divergent interests?

Re: Model Build topic board?
Yep, a builders forum section is a great idea.
Another idea I had the other day was to ask to see if we can slide the "members currently in chatbox" in between the search box on the upper left and the one on the upper right,,up at the top of the page. That way you can see at a quick glance when the page intially loads up. I don't mind scrolling down, just thought it might make it a tad easier to see that. To acctually see who is in chat you have to get out of the thread postings to the home page or forums page.

Re: Model Build topic board?
A build section would be good.
But the more things added the more confusing the site will get.
Hey i remember when all we had was "cox discussions" and "for sale/wanted"

Indra:
Yes, I do because I have been on this forum since the very early beginning.
If there is anything "confusing" it's why the forum has drifted into anything other than Cox engines and their applications which usually means models.
I've brought some of those digressions to your attention.
Remember?

In the off topic thread.

I am working on the section, I thought it would be a great idea. It is not a bad idea, I didn't say ”we'll see ,maybe”. I will be working on it later.

Re: Model Build topic board?
Another thing that should be great is to make a post-it in the General Cox talk forum, where every documentation posted by members is linked, something like an index to existings posts...
I sometimes find useful info, but then loose it, because it gets lost in the next pages...

Re: Model Build topic board?
I would like to thank the moderators/ administrators or whomever was responsible for
creating the model building section. I also appreciate those who supported the idea. I am humbled to say the least. I have posted my latest build over there with questions. I hope that area becomes a useful resource for those who enjoy building and flying aircraft that are powered by the greatest and simplest engines ever designed. Take Care all and happy modeling!
