Whatever happened to Cox's production machinery
Does Estes still have posession of them? Or did they scrap them when they decided not to continue production?
I'm just curious, since Bernie so often mentions the costs associated with setting up a production run of engine parts/items. Is it possible some of the equipment is just sitting around in a warehouse collecting dust/rust?

Some of the carb body molds, tanks and dies for copper head gaskets went to MECOA. From what I understand the rest was scrapped.

Re: Whatever happened to Cox's production machinery
Estes might have not bothered to replace molds and dies that they were using, when they had passed their useful life too.

Re: Whatever happened to Cox's production machinery
Most was scrapped and/or exceeded its useful life and never replaced. Much of the machinery was worn out in the 80's and led to partial subcontracting of parts and pieces. Basically, one has to start from scratch when making parts. Even the carb body molds from MECOA were only partials...they had to make the remainder of the molds. When we make parts, it is basically from scratch, thus the necessary demand.
