Cox Engine of The Month
Matt's .010

Matt's .010
Matt sent this .010 to the TD tach race and it was a DNF. I did not have a chance to mess with it then and I felt bad so I had him send it back to me. The crankcase was drilled for pressure and it was an obscenely big hole. Matt had already plugged the fitting so I can only assume the carb bodies are not air tight or the volume around the inside of the carb body is to large to maintain adequate pressure. At any rate I JB'd the crankcase and here is the result. Thanks for letting me experiment Matt!

Those things are just freakin' amazing, scary little suckers. Matthew will be glad to see that.

Re: Matt's .010
Thanks again Ron for troubleshooting it. I just assumed that the carb was airtight.
I'll have to run it and make a video when it gets back. Who knows, maybe it will see some airtime!

You're quite welcome Matt. I was glad to help. I do hope it sees some airtime.

Re: Matt's .010
I just had to JB weld a crankcase hole in a .010 and a .049. THe .010 hole was at least 1/16" in diameter and drilled at an angle. What did that engine tach at? Sounds like upper 27k to 28K.

Don't know didn't tach it. Sounded good though.

Re: Matt's .010
Check and make sure whoever tapped the crankcase didn't bore the venturi too. I'm guessing not, since it obviously wasn't struggling to draw fuel, but still a good idea to check.microflitedude wrote:Thanks again Ron for troubleshooting it. I just assumed that the carb was airtight.
