Hey Ron,
I made a Baby Hi-Start from some carpet thread and a strip of Sig 1/8 rubber. I wish I'd gotten video of the Trooper flying in thermals, but never thought to do it. I VERY nearly lost it one afternoon when it punched into a boomer and just KEPT climbing! It has no elevator, so I couldn't spin it out of the thermal, and was able to finally just fly it into some sink that brought it back down.
The Prairie Bird WAS lost at the Cairo airport, landing way out in the beans, and not found until the next day. To my amazement, it had been somewhat "consumed" during the night by balsa-chewing grasshoppers or katie-did's. The radio still worked, and I rebuilt the slightly gnawed thing to fly again.
Got no idea if the bugs got a buzz from eating that doped tissue !!!!!
