Lew,
The silver color denotes a late model. Not sure about the rarity though.

Only made for 2 years. Probably only 2000 made. Pretty low production number for a Cox engine.

Re: Medallion .09 R/C
The link shows a TD 09 RC?
I guess something around $80 is reasonable, it is all up to you and how much you enjoy engines.
A Medallion 09 RC looks like this (on the far right);

Reasonable and ebay rarely go together in the same sentence. I bet this will be over $175 when it's all said and done.

Re: Medallion .09 R/C
That's just ridiculous, these engines once served a good purpose as a cheap entry into RC. Now they all seem to be hangar queens, and expensive simply because they are not made anymore, not because of any other forte...
I'm certainly running mine, and enjoying every minute of it, live's too short to just keep them on a shelf.

Well all I can say is some of these Old engines become the site of beauty to some of us...that's where the collector is born..We try to preserve examples of what is not produced any more....I't's a disease that cost alot of money and I like it. Why use precious relics of the past when you can use less valuable newer motors that will do the same thing?? That's just me...preserve our old rare engines so our kids can have a Cox Engine Forum they can use!!! Amen!!

Re: Medallion .09 R/C
Well, I'm pretty sure my cox 05RC has received much more attention and appreciation by being flown at the field, rather than being kept NIB. I can't imagine that there would be much interest in a cox forum either without running any engines...

That's a lovely example, Kris. I always stop to gaze that picture when it shows up. I like the way the engine is mounted. I tried that position with the TD on my Li'l Satan, but that angle didn't really offer any more protection of the needle and cylinder on the tiny plane.
How old is that model? What's it called?

Re: Medallion .09 R/C
The ebay auction is for TD RC 09
I won NIB and used one not very long ago on ebay.
50$ for used in box and 135$ for NIB. I think TD RC 09 is not as rare as TD RC 050. I saw if quite frequently on ebay. these 2 engines manufacture dates are the same in 1994.

Re: Medallion .09 R/C
The plane is a Yellow Jacket from Morris Hobbies and it is a very recent build. The kits are not made anymore, but the drawing can be obtain from; airage store
I did a build thread on RCU when I built it; Link
I have reduced the angle of incidence of the wing to almost zero (drawing calls for about 2°) and the engine is angled downwards by about 3° (drawing had zero). I also made the tail surfaces slightly smaller. The plane flies very nice, and with a total weight of 10oz it has unlimited vertical.
The angle of the engine works well here to get the exhaust away from the plane and wing, there is just a small amount of oil to wipe off from the stabilizer after a flight. The needle faces upwards, so that just makes it more convenient to adjust.
