New "Aeromodeller"

New "Aeromodeller"
I'm probably very late in posting this, but is everyone on this forum who is in the UK supporting the new, re-published "Aeromodeller"?
If not, why not? we all need to make sure this new production of a classic magazine for us non-strictly-R/C people is a success!
Very glad to see your great advert in issue 1, Bernie!

Thanks John, never actually been away, just not contributed much for a while, all tied up in building massive "Vintage" models, about as far away from Cox & .049s as is possible, so nothing on-topic for here!

Far as I know, that IS the first copy of the new publication run, hence the first edition re-print.
If you look on their website they seem to have been hyping the first edition for months before publication

Re: New "Aeromodeller"
When we checked the stats last week (we run very comprehensive analytical tools on our website) we found that business from the UK had not increased to the point of paying for the ad.
We took out a full colour page mainly as a show of support.
However the upcoming article will likely generate more business. It's a great article that includes comprehensive engine performnce tests (even diesel). It's like 14 pages before the slew of pictures that will also be included. I believe they are splitting the article into 2 consecutive issues.

Re: New "Aeromodeller"
I have not even looked at this site for the last few days after seeing that (what was!) my favourite magazine had been resurrected. I have learned more in the last few days than for quite some time by following through on some of the articles and comments.
Bernie - the magazine is not just published and distributed in the UK, it is being sold in Barnes & Noble and is available throughout other foreign lands - in traditional print and digitally.
I thank Wilf for his posting letting us know that this had been published ( even though this was mid December).

Re: New "Aeromodeller"
There are two articles - one is Part 1 covering 4 pages and then there is 2 pages of "Inside Cox International". I assume there will be a Part 2 in the next issue.

Re: New "Aeromodeller"
That's what I thought. I have had the complete article here (under embargo) for quite some time but I don't know what they actually ran - for me to wait until I get my copy lol.
Re: New "Aeromodeller"
Bernie can you post a copy of the article on your site so we over in the New World can read it?

Re: New "Aeromodeller"
Unfortunately I can't post the article because it was sent to us under embargo, sorry.
However, I guess that anyone with the mag could scan as PDF and upload it. I don't have the mag yet and, if and when I get it, probably should not upload the relevant pages either because we are a commercial entity and should not really participate in this. I don't want to bite the hand that feeds me lol.
However, I am sure that some private party will help out here

Re: New "Aeromodeller"
I received the mag today and I will scan and host the 2-page article about us - I think that should be ok.
For the article about "Cox .049 Bee Engines" I will leave that for someone else to put it on-line.

Re: New "Aeromodeller"
I subscribed to the iPad (iTunes) version today. Interesting read on the Cox engines, but something the author mentioned made me stop and think. How many Black Widow engines out there have the wrong backplate on them?
The author was talking about venturi sizes when I noticed he started to talk in very general terms. He made out that there are 3 different sizes of backplate venturi opening. To my knowledge there were only ever two sizes, 0.062" dia for the Babe Bee and Golden Bee etc, and 0.082" for the Black Widow and Venom only.
I then checked a few of my engines and found some of the used Black Widows I own, have the 0.062" while some have the 0.082". I know I have in the past thrown plastic backplates away and replaced them with metal ones. Could it be that I have not checked the venturi hole or is this a mix up from the factory? I wonder how many others have done this?
