Nine ounces, really!?! I would never have guessed that. A Li'l Satan weighs less than 5oz including the engine. I don't know, a TD .010 might be able to haul more than a PeeWee .020.

My Scarinzi Queen Bee weighs 1.9 oz's and that's total all up weight with Pee Wee engine and oil soaked covering. I used Jap tissue to cover the entire model with 2 coats of Sig Litecoat clear. Ken

For Freeflight, I'm thinking of building the Manx Arrow, and putting two lightweight servos in it. Iv'e just obtained a TeeDee 010 and was thinking of using that.

would you put the servos in the center of the fuselage and have pushrods and a bellcrank, or have the servos in the wing tips and have long servo extensions?

Cox claim 7oz but engines vary and it depends on wingloading and drag and other stuff but 7oz is a good estimate.

Sounds promising, I'll give it a go. If it comes out a bit heavy I'll use an 020. I might convert the thrust tester I use for my electric stuff so I can test the thrust of some of my of Cox engines. I'm curiose Small Cox Logo

That would be useful info for all of us! Good idea! If you decide to give it a go please post back with the results.

I'll Post a couple of Pics when converted and running. As for the Mank Arrow project I was going to put a 4g micro servo in wing.

Watts per pound is a much more useful formula for our purposes.
There's a graph somewhere on the forum that gives a (very rough) guide to the bhp of the td series.
So, multiple the BHP by 746 to gain your wattage then devide that figure by the weight of your
aircraft.
50 watts per pound will fly okish but prob not rise off ground needing a hand launch.
100 watts per pound will rise off ground and have reasonably sparkly performance
150 watts per pound in my experience is the fun factor figure
and
If anyone can get much more than 150 WpP from a flyable Cox they'll earn my eternal Hero worship.

You've all seen my Old Timer with 135 WpP and remember
That took 6months toil, 6 different engines and serious
Weight reduction so yeah challenge!

I think my BFStreak is about 8 ounces with a TD .015. If that's 70w/.5lb, then at 140w/lb it was sort of a challenge. Faster than I'm used to at 35 feet anyway.

I had a Roaring 20 powered by a TD 010 and the whole assemly when filled with about 2/3 oz of fuel weighed about 8 oz and flew quite well (lost it due to a loose power cable on the receiver).

Rebuilt it recently from scratch and this one is a bit lighter about 7 oz when fuelled and flies even better. Watch my video on this here:
