Three piece piston

Three piece piston
I keep seeing references to "three piece piston" in early Bees. How does this lay out? Is this a conventional piston, wrist pin, and connecting rod, or is the piston actually composed of three pieces? Any one have pictures?

Re: Three piece piston
Is the retaining piece threaded into the piston body? Does this mean that rod to piston socket clearance could be adjusted by tightening or loosening this piece? How long were these used?

Re: Three piece piston
There is a circle clip that holds the rod socket in place, no adjustment.
I think these were around mid to late 50s, not sure.

Three pieces piston
These pistons can be seen in space bug, space bug junior and thermal hopper with thin wall cylinder.
