my custom 1/4a rc plane build log
well, i designed a rc airplane over a year ago for a cox .049 thats 18'' long (before i had a cox .020) this would be way over powered. The plane looks kinda like a FMK Flutterbug only smaller
pics to come soon
p.s im going to use the silver tank peewee .020 that i got from Cribbs74

Re: my custom 1/4a rc plane build log
ya man, still wondering what color scheme i wanna do.
Im thinking Black and red stripes like one would see on a Piper Super Cub on the wing and the fuselage might have a black top and bottom with red sides
i still have to find the wing rib design that i want to use, the chord is 4''

here are a few pics, the hs-55 servo is small but stinking huge as you can see
here is how i'm going to set up the motor
working on getting the 2 halves of the fuselage together

the motor is mounted with 2-56 bolts and blind nuts
added support just above the co2 tank

The airframe is finished!!!!!
got the airframe finished last night at 1:30am here are some pics
found one MAJOR design flaw , with the set up i have i will not be able to remove the spent co-2 cartridge without removing the motor from the motor mount do to space limitations
other than that i still need a 4'' chord for the wind and a rib design that works (i already have the wing designed) and i need to design the elevator and rudder

my uncle took a close look at the prop, and he thinks it was hand carved
is there anyway to be sure? it is 7'' in diameter

May I ask why you didn't want to make a hatch for simple holder removal?

Believe me it's not...it wouldn't hurt to clean it up with some fine sandpaper and rebalance it. You might look to access the cylinder from the bottom, couple 'rare earth' magnets to hold hatch in place, good luck

Re: my custom 1/4a rc plane build log
yesterday when i was in the car going to get more balsa for another plane, i stuck the plane out the window as the driver eased the speed to 40mph
the motor looked so cool turning over
i had a great experience at another lhs. The people that worked there had never seen a motor like this and they even got the manager to come out and look, they told me to keep building and that it is a art that not many kids my age do and that its mostly the "old timers'' (there words) that build anymore
