My first half-A planes were either built up fuselage or hollow log Scientifics. My first profile was a Ringmaster Jr.
Looking at the plans, note that the Space Bug has approximately a Black Widow size tank, the longer radial mount nose would approximate a tankless engines like a Sure Start, and the beam mount could accommodate a TD, AP, NV, etc., but make sure you adjust spacing of the beams because the OK Cub .09 is wider than those.
Again looking at the plans, note that the Space Bug radial mount firewall has a hole in it to accommodate the rear intake on the Space Bug. Of course the SB Jr, and the Thermal Hopper needed holes in the firewall too. The firewall used for that Holland Hornet probably had short flights with that tank.
I'm considering adding this plane to my queue because I have a couple of Space Bugs that have not flexed wings for a long time. :-)

Re: 1/2a Build Suggestions
What about something for a .03 G Mark? The engine is kinda long. Maybe a glider? That would fit in our field better. Anyone have plans for a Pee Wee powered glider?
Edit: I have a arf Glider I got for free. It is called the Ascent. Supposed to fly with a Speed 400 motor. What nitro equivalency is this? I was going to try the Mark but did not think it could do it. Would a Space Bug Jr. do it? Or is the Mark enough.

In terms of gliders my vote goes to the Gentle Lady. I'm actually a glider guy - hence the username - so this thought has occured to me and the Gentle Lady would be my personal choice. Full size plan available in PDF form ready to take to your local print shop is available at this link
In sport models for .049's there is an absolute classic to be made in the form of Joe Wagner's Dakota biplane. It was designed for .049 engines and free flight but I saw a very nice electric one built for R/C recently. No reason you couldn't copy the electric R/C setup but keep a reedie up front. It's all sheet balsa. The one in the picture at the following link is the electric version I refer to. Link to Joe Wagner's Dakota Plan
I find most of my plans on that website - as I am also a scratch builder for the most part - if you go to their home page at www.outerzone.co.uk and just type in 049 in the search box it'll bring back a number of plans that were designed for 049 size engines.

Now I need a plane for my Space Hopper. Without a doubt CL for this thing. Preferably Sport/Combat with built up wing. I like the Baby Lightning Streak. Cannot afford the kit though. Anything similar to it that I can get plans for?

Either the Baby Lightning Streak or the Baby Flite Streak. I'm not sure about the online description. I don't believe the Baby Lightning Streak was ever a Carl Goldberg model. AFAIK, George Aldrich designed the Lightning Streak (fulll-size, Jr., and Baby) series for John Brodak while Top Flite still owned the Flite Streak rights. Originally, the Baby Lightning Streak had a radial mount for tanked engines. Perhaps it really was redesigned because the 1/2A engines that Brodak imports are all beam mounted.
In any case it should be a good match for your Space Hopper. You may have to notch the mounts for rear induction. If you already have balsa and hardware, John Brodak will sellyou plans only. If you do not already have supplies on hand, I would urge you to check what all the Brodak kit includes.
Good luck whatever you decide.
