Amazing car engine
jus' started my cox car engine that i received from CRNKBNDR and all i can say is it is amazing, even with a muffler the thing still made my ears ring lol had to keep on the nv because i dont have the correct one
does anyone know what this engine will turn on 20% nitro fuel?
P.S it is the car engine with the knob that is used to start, not the bee type with the pull start handle

Re: Amazing car engine
You might want to run the engine under a load or it might blow.

Re: Amazing car engine
Don't let it go wide open! You'll blow the con-rod (or something else). I blew the rod in my 1971 Baja Bug engine a few years ago when I let it go wide open (I was happy and amazed to see it going so fast but that sure changed when it made a loud snap and locked up instantly). I thought I could let it go wide open like that because of the heavy shaft but you have to remember that the rest of the engine is the same as any other cox plane engine. Nothing else was damaged, just fitted a new piston and it ran fine again.
Here's a video of one of the car engines I got a few weeks ago.

Remember your hearing is one of your most important senses. Once it's is impaired you'll be like me wearing dual hearing aids. Eh?
Personally I wear my shooting ear protection muffs when around loud noises like screaming Cox engines, chain saws and even music that I can't STAND. (My wife takes offense when I put them on when she's nagging me)

Aye aye Dave, good advice.
I roadied for a really loud band in the '80s.
Now I'm very concious of hearing protection.
Mitch, plugs are good, muffs are better, and both are best.

Yup, my primary VISA card is from Cabela's. I get points for all my purchases. Accumulated points may be be redeemed for dollars off Cabela's merchandise. For example, last year I accumlated enough points to get a free "Mountain Trapper" speeping bag.
The muffs are by Howard Leight and cost $17.

I listened to a TD .049 at full song, 22.2K RPM for a tank of fuel with no protection
Not really a good idea.

Re: Amazing car engine
I could never really understand why Cox would put a throttle on a car engine. They run slow enough under a load.

Re: Amazing car engine
Longest run (with integral tank) I have done is with my fathers RC Bee at lowest throttle it could do. Was 17 minutes and 59 Seconds. Engine got rather warm after that. Never repeated that from fear of overheating the engine.

Re: Amazing car engine
This was Balls Out on the Needle Valve with 25% Sig. Engine gets very quiet with this type of ring. What pylinder assembly is on your Golden Bee?

Re: Amazing car engine
Does it have SPI now? How many Bypass ports? My father's Golden Bee has SPI but only one Bypass port. Mine is RC with SPI and 2 bypass ports.
